Good morning

Hi to all forum members!!!

The reason for my post is that I'm going to need major help on a decision to make. The make the long story short, I injured my back last year on November. The only issue the MRI showed was a disc protussion to the left side between L4 and L5. I just recently noticed that I'm gonna have to replace my matress. It's got like a hole form in the middle. I had to change my sleeping position to the top of the matress(it's weird but had to) because if I sleep the normal way, I wake up with pain in my back and I know it's the matress that needs to be replaced. The reason why i sleep on the top side is because there is no hole form like in the middle and I'm able to get some sleep with less pain.I know what you are going to say: "Dude you need to buy a new one!!!!" but the problem is that I'm un-employed right now.Even through, I decided to go to sears to start searching for a new one.here comes the part that I need advice

The sales guy recommend it me S&F over Sealy due to there coil system. My question is what is the best coil system for an orthopedic matress? he told me that the coil systems that are joined together by another wire, tend to on the long run to form crater type holes on the matress because since they are joined by another wire, when you lay down on the matress it pulls all the rest of the coil system vs. independent coils give you better support and tend not to pull the rest of the coil system. Please some expert advice here because I'll be willing to spend around $2000 on a matress. Here in PR , matress are much more expensive and + is my back health!!!!All suggestions would be gladly appreciated!!!Thanks guys!

My suggestion is to forget a traditional mattress with springs and go for a latex mattress.  If you get a traditional mattress you'll just end up with a crater in your bed AND in your wallet because you'll have wasted $2K on something that is not going to last.  Today's mattresses are made with cheap PU foam in them and that will break down, causing a crater in your bed.

A latex mattress can give you the firmness and support your back needs, while still being resilient enough to eliminate pressure points.  It will far outlast a traditional spring mattress.

Which brand do you recommend? The model from Stearns & Foster I saw in sears has latex combined with independent coils(not traditional coil system)

Yeah and I think you'll find that if you look at the content label on the mattress, you'll find out that there may be some latex mixed in with a healthy dose of PU foam.  None of the big "S" brand companies actually makes a 100% latex mattress, either with or without springs/coils.  They all have a layer of latex over a lot of PU foam, and call it a "latex" bed.

Instead, look at:

Thanks KimberlyH!!!! the only thing is that buying a mattress without trying it is something not wise. Those brands are not available here in PR but there is got to be a latex matress from another brand. Thanks for your input.
