Hurray. I reserached and found that Costco is selling Latex and memory foam mattresses . They are much much cheaper then Tempurpedics and flobeds and Sleep EZ's  latex .

I am thinking of buying this one:

http://www.costco.com/Browse/Productgroup.aspx?Prodid=11496053&whse=BC&Ne=5000001+4000000&eCat=BC|93|1924&N=4001714%204294904776&Mo=6&No=4&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-US&Sp=C&topnav=

Has any one bought from costco the one above?

Did you love it or what?

I heard Costco sells good stuff.

I am not a member of Costco yet.

Thanks.

Roy,

We bought the Sleep Science latex mattress from Costco. It is being delivered tomorrow. We did not order the foundation - we bought the Mission Wood Platform bed from platformbeds.com. Will post back and let you know if we like it.

The Mission Wood Platform Bed looks very nice. Which finish did you choose?

We got the Danish Oil Red Oak (it matches the rest of our bedroom furniture), queen size, raised 5", with extra slats. It took 2 of us about 2 hours to put it together; seemed a little shaky at first, but nice and solid this morning. Nice wood, all pieces were there plus a few extras. There is a center rail and a center support, but the directions said the center support was not needed for any size except king. The slats in the headboard are not tight. You do have to pound really, really hard with the rubber mallet to lock the pieces together - we still have to clean rubber marks off of some of the pieces!

Update - the platformbed.com frame is now rock solid. We put Magic Sliders under each leg and it is very easy to move the bed to clean under and behind it. The solid wood is beautiful.

The Sleep Science mattress was delivered Friday evening. The delivery company was running late, but called to notify us. They put the mattress on upside down, but flipped it when we asked; they removed all of the packing materials when they left.

I think the mattress feels a bit firm and am going to check today to be sure the cover is not on upside down, as happened to someone on the other thread. We may be sleeping on the medium/firm side instead of the soft side. It is, however, Dunlop and we may be on the soft side already. The good news - we have awakened both mornings with no sore backs or, for me, aching hip joints. I did not sleep straight through either night, but I seldom do. The mattress itself is VERY nice and has a beautiful cover. We have a sheepishdreams.com wool topper on and I am wondering if this would interfere with the feel of the latex.

roy, here's the HUGE THREAD about the Costco Sleep Science latex bed. Click ALL to see all 173 posts. There are other threads, too. Do you know how to do a forum search? You'll find tons of info  about the Costco beds.

I understand how you feel about not being able to just go in & try out these the all latex layered systems that SleepEZ and FloBeds sell, it's frustrating because you can't see what you're getting beforehand. But thin about it this way: If they did have retail stores all over the country, their prices would likely be much higher. Besides, you wouldn't know for sure about the feel from spending 20 minutes or even a night or three on it.

It's only been a fews weeks since I've had my SleepEZ bed, and I do not regret it at all. I only wish I'd a) done it sooner, and b) gone with a slightly firmer set-up. But I can change that by doing a layer exchange.

CJ... I am also thinking about a Sleep EZ purchase! The cost add-on for the Flobed, plus shipping, seems a bit steep.

The guts of both mattresses and foundations are identical. Indeed, Sleep EZ sells the exact same foundation for much less, and both of them buy latex from the same supplier.

I was planning on going with a medium, firm and extra firm package, forgetting the soft altogether. In fact, I may do the 13000 and go with a double firm, with extra on bottom and medium on top.

How did you find the mattress encasement? Was it a tight fit around the latex layers. I not thrilled about the idea of shifting layers.

Have you initiated the Exchange yet?

I trust you are well pleased with the overall quality?

The cover is tight when you have all the layers in it. At first, I was afraid it would be too small. The layers do NOT shift, the rubbery-ness holds it all together, anyway.

I have not yet initiated the exchange. I called and spoke with Shaun and he recommended I try one more configuration, just to be sure.

I am pleased with the quality and I trust that it is better than, and will outlast any bed I could have bought locally for the same price, or more.

akros. was it hard to put together the platform bed? I am technically challenged that is why I am asking.

So you have the medium side of costco latex mattress on the top?

But you said the soft side is on the bottom?

With soft side as bottom base how does it feel? I mean does it feel UNSTABLE? like it is slipping and NOT HOLDING UP?

THANKS AKROS.

Hi Roy,

Checked the mattress and soft side is on the top, so all is well.

Putting together the bed did not take a lot of technical knowledge, but I would say it was much easier with two people. The directions that came with the bed weren't great, but the website has a video and pictures that helped a lot. The only tools needed were a screwdriver and rubber mallet. The slatted headboard was the worst - we assembled it standing up, it fell apart, so we laid it down and it was much easier.

Hello Roy:

I saw your post and I am wondering if you can share your experience on the Sleep Science Latex mattress you bought from Costco..IF you already bought it.

I read some review that says this bed is too soft and does not provide support.

My husband has back pain problems and he wants something firm..maybe with an ILD of 26 minimum.

Recently we went browsing at Mattress Giant, and we tried many beds and he liked the Tempurpedic Grand Bed.

He said it was firm and  yet has the slowly-sinking feeling. But of course we are not going to spend $4000 for a Queen mattress..plus I have heard quite bad reviews of the memory foam, esp Tempurpedic.

I have a Leggett and Platt Queen Adjustable Base with Massage.

If you can share your thoughts, I would really appreciate it.

I also looked at Habitat Furnishings 6" Latex mattress..I called and they said their latex is Dunlop and is produced by Latex Green, a company based in Sri Lanka.

I wonder if anybody has ordered from Habitat Furnishings before.

Thanks!

leggett,  did not buy the mattress. I slept on it at friends place for 1 night. Thanks!

That is how I found out that the Foundation that sleep science sells is JUNK. Sleep science is also selling the same foundation with the rest of its mattresses they are selling on Costco. Thanks!
