inexpensive mattress with no motion transfer
hi, i'm new to buying a mattress, and i may just have to put two twins together for a while--until we have more $!--but can someone educate me as to mattresses without motion transfer? I'm excessively sensitive to movement, and can't sleep in the same bed as my boyfriend as of a year ago! i've heard that Beautyrest and latex mattresses have no motion...We're looking for something inexpensive yet comfortable. Does this exist? Thank you!! |
Re: inexpensive mattress with no motion transfer
Foam beds usually have the least amount of motion transfer. Especially true of memory foam. It has no motion transfer. Latex is very bouncy. You will feel movement. Pocket coils have the least amount of motion transfer of innerspring mattresses. You could build your own mattress fairly inexpensively of a firm HR base-- with a 2" memory foam topper. This would give you the least amount of motion transfer on a single mattress. Or you could just get two twin innerspring beds and place them together. You will always have the least amount of motion transfer when you are the only one actually sleeping on the bed. |
Re: inexpensive mattress with no motion transfer
thanks for the advice. What is HR? |
Re: inexpensive mattress with no motion transfer
HR stands for high resiliency. A higher grade of PU foam that resists compression and lasts much longer than standard low density PU foam. HR is available in many ILDs from soft to super firm so you can achieve a customized level of support and comfort. |
Re: inexpensive mattress with no motion transfer
what thickness would the base layer need to be, and what brand would you recommend? Thanks so much! |
Re: inexpensive mattress with no motion transfer
Ok, now i feel that i'm more 'educated' in mattress speak, but thank you, Cloud9, for the initiation! While reading over this post, i wondered: Would a memory foam topper make a difference in motion transfer (over a HR foam base), or will HR foam or latex topper be fine? And--if our room reaches 60 degrees (*maybe* a little warmer) at night, is that too warm for MF? |
