I am thinking of buying a Serta Perfect Sleeper without a pillow top and instead buying egg crate or 2" of PU foam to put on top of it from foambymail. We really like the coil system of the Perfect Sleeper for the support it provides.  Before we were married by husband bought a 3" memory foam topper from Overstock and put it on top of an old Simmons mattress. When we were married that whole system had to go. I hated the memory foam topper because when we laid next to each other we formed a canoe in the middle of the bed. Maybe I would like the memory foam but the 3" was just too much? We hate Visco memory foam even though it's better than the cheaper memory foam supposedly. That's why I was thinking of possibly putting 2" of PU foam or egg crate or both on top like what mattress companies do for the Pillowtop. What do you think? Even if the topper doesn't last since it's separate we can always replace it. What do you think?

How about a latex topper instead of a PU foam or memory foam topper?

Yes we've thought about latex but are unsure of which to get. The latex beds we've tried have seemed very bouncy and we're looking for more of a soft feel. We were thinking of layering Egg crate & PU foam but we could do latex instead. What kind of latex would you recommend?

Hi All,

After reading multiple posts that Sagar recommended I bought a 2" Talalay Latex Foam Topper Soft (20 ILD) foambymail.com. I'm very anxious to see how it will feel on our innerspring mattress. I will let you know how it feels when it comes! Thanks for all your help!

:) Lauren

I received the Latex topper today. The package was 39lbs and was packaged just like Bill's pictures on his post. I was very impressed with how well it was packaged with multiple layers of plastic and then vacuum wrapped underneath. When the vacuum wrapped plastic is cut the topper doubles in size. My first impression is that it is very comfortable. I will let you all know how I like it after a couple nights sleeping on it. So far I am very happy with my purchase.
