Is Joma Wool Organic?

From what I've read, it is not. If it is not, do you know if it's treated with any toxic chemicals? I am looking for the purest and cleanest mattress possible. If I'm going to spend $2000 for a mattress, I want to make sure it's nearly perfect. I don't understand why a company would use all organic materials except for the wool batting. I also don't understand why many companies aren't upfront about the specs of their products on their websites.

I suggest that your concern is not with how organic wool is but whether or not your bedding is treated with fire retardant chemicals.  Generally, speaking, wool is used in Latex mattress cases to satisfy fire retardant requirements without using such chemicals.

I am not only concerned about potential fire retardants in wool, I am also concerned about other chemicals that are used to clean and treat the wool fibers. I feel much more confident with a wool fiber that is certified organic or at least equivalent.

If it were organic believe me it would be all over the marketing information. You are very correct in your idea about how it is treated and washed, many times people only focus on the FR (which is very important) but there should also be evaluation on how it is treated. Safe bet is to stick with certified organic or ECO-Wool poducts.

Concerns about toxicity of fire retardant chemicals are addressed in this article folks might be interested in reading. In fact, it appears the cure for flammabiltiy is wose than the risk.

Please also note that Congress is attempting to address the problem, and the Safe Chemicals act looks worthy of our support.

I'd say the joma wool variety would be the best mattress topper for what you're after, not sure any other would match up.
