Purchased a sensa latex mattress about 4yrs ago.  Best sleep and pain free morning in ages.  Only one problem, it didn't last.  Aftet 2yrs it devloped a bad indention.  Returned for replacement, happy camper.  Only problem, it did it again.  This time they said my mattress was no longer available so I could pay $500 and get an upgrade(pair of twin xtra longs), but they weren't in stock to try out.  They then sold me on memory foam.  Been sorry every since.  Question, how would a latex pad work on top of the sensa pedic majestic(firm) mattress  work out?  How thick, and what weight?  Your expertise is appriciated.

Which model did you get? The higher end models have a lot of latex and I'm surprised they would break down in only 2 years. If so, that may go a long way towards convincing people on this forum that non-Talalay latex does not have as long of a shelf life as Talalay latex.

Can you tell me which model you had that broke down?

The potential problem I see with these is that they have Talalay layers but then they have "Belgian latex" under that. I am guessing it is the Belgian layer that broke down, not the Talalay.

Also it has what looks like about 4" of "medium density support material" on the bottom layer which is of questionable quality.

Okay, now to the one you have, the Majestic Sensa Pedic model with 4" of Sensa memory foam on top.

You could try putting a firmer piece of latex on top of this, maybe a 28 or 32ILD and see if it works, but I'm dubious that it will.

Your best bet, if you really cannot return it, is to perform mattress surgery on it. I cannot guarantee it will work because I don't know how well they have glued the visco foam on top of the "6" Premium high density" support base, which HOPEfully really is a premium pu foam, something like HR or M-Grade.

If you take the zippered cover off, you can see how well the top layer of 4" visco foam is glued on. You can PROBABLY detach it from the base some way or another. Start with an electric carving knife to see if you can detach it around one edge, then keep moving inward... Try pulling on it and see if it comes loose.

THEN, once you have that memory foam off of there, replace it with some good quality latex, maybe a 3" -4" layer of Talalay firm and then a 2" Talalay medium to medium-soft, and whatever kind of topper you may want, if any.

If you do it, take photos and post them, please.

If you do go this route, you may as well first just buy the 2" Talalay medium layer and put it on top of the visco and see how it feels. But my guess is you'll still sink in too much and it won't work. But I could be wrong, so it's worth a try.

There is, of course, the possibility that the base layer of "premium hd foam" is not firm enough, in which case you're screwed. But my guess is that the base is okay and it's the top 4" of memory foam that is screwing you up.

Actually the foam is too firm.  My latex mattress was also firm, but not nearly this hard,I'll look for the paper work on it this eve.  It is none of the currant models. Thanks
