Hi Gang, I hope all is well. I am looking into purchasing a latex mattress from a Canadian distributor named Latex Mattress Direct. Their King is $1,299 Canadian. Shipping is free. Their website is: http://www.latexmattressdirect.ca/latex_mattress_king.php I will call on Monday but this is advertised as a 100% Pure Latex Dunlop Mattress. Does anyone have any feed back on Dunlop or any experience with this? Thanks.

they seem to offer very little actual information on their product.  100% pure Dunlop latex doesn't really mean anything either. These words are ambiguous and misleading, and have nothing to do with actual polymer content.

So I picked up the phone and called them ... $1,299 for an Eastern King with shipping included. This is a Dunlop 32 ILD latex mattress with 80% natural latex from Taiwan and 20% synthetic from Korea. It is 7.5 inches deep and 80 inches long by 78 inches wide. With a 4.4 Density reading ... not sure what that is ... If after 30 days you don't like it, you pay the shipping and they reimburse you. It is located in the same area of Alberta that Budgy's business is from.

if the latex is blended together and made into one core (80% natural content, 20% synthetic) how does some of it come from one factory and some from another?  I just find this a little confusing.

Pricing for products in Canada for Latex Mattresses are OUTRAGEOUS. I have called and got pricing from a few and just can't believe the amount of money that is being charged. It is actually kind of disappointing. I think the Latex Mattress from this company would be similar to the Elfsjord mattress from Ikea. It is not a bad product. Just too short for me.

Budgy makes a good point. Why not call them back and ask for further explanation?
Is the latex a synthetic blend of 80% natural and 20% synthetic?
OR is the mattress itself composed of 80% x (100% latex) and 20% x (synthetic)? IF so, what is the synthetic components(s)?

I've been searching for info about this company too as their prices are so cheap.  I had emailed and called them last year.  The CSR Darcy told me there was no synthetic latex used at all.  I also inquired about how they make it fire retardant, and he said he'd look into it.  The last I heard from him was that there is some chemical added to the latex, but he didn't know what.  He told me he needed more time to look into it.  I never heard back from him.  I'm curious if the OP found out any more info.

Your original question was wondering about Dunlop latex which I have been researching recently to make a decision on my own latex bed purchase.  After researching till information is falling out of my head, I purchased the Flobed online this morning.  One of the reasons I chose Flobed was the great source of information and videos they had on their website.  Flobed sells both Dunlop and Talalay latex, both blended and 100% natural in both.  They recently came across some vacuum packed latex sheets (both Talalay and Dunlop)that had been sitting for 5 years in this compressed state. tucked away at the top of their storage racks.  The video shows what happens as they unroll each sheet. You can clearly see how much better the Talalay held up under compression which is what you might expect after being compressed in your bed for several years.  I have included the link below.http://www.flobeds.com/TalalayVsDunlop.htm I would encourage you to look through the Flobed website and start your education there.  They even have a good explanation of what ILD means as far as how firm or soft your latex mattress will be.  This helps when you are buying something that you don't get to try out first.  I was very skeptical as I have never purchased something of this magnitude without first seeing it but all of the raving reviews of both the bed itself and the customer service convinced me to give it a try.  I am waiting with anticipation to recieve my bed next week and will post back how it goes.  It has been very helpful for me to read other people's stories so I want to do the same for someone else.
