Memory Foam Topper to help with Sciatica
I have been looking through a lot of the posts here on toppers, either latex or memory foam, and need some help. First, some background on us. We have a year old spring mattress, which is the W Bed by Simmons and a feather bed on top of that. My wife is currently suffering through her first ever bought of sciatica. According to the doctor we can expect more flare ups throughout her life due to the cause in her case. The pain is worse when she is trying to sleep so I have been researching different options for helping her. I have seen many references to putting a memory foam topper on our current mattress as a way of making her more comfortable by taking pressure off her pressure points. So I have been trying to find the best option for this and am confused. One last bit of info is that she weighs about 120 pounds and I am about 240. I am trying to decide on the density of the topper, the thickness of the topper and the of course where to get it. Right now I am leaning towards something in the 2-3 inch range and something around 4 lbs for density but there is a lot of contrasting info out there. I would appreciate any help you can offer as I would really like to get her a good night sleep sooner than later. Thanks in advance, Larry |
