My experience with iComfort Prodigy

I purchased the iComfort Prodigy King mattress and foundation this weekend.  I have not found a lot of reviews on this model so I thought I would share my experience over the next few weeks.  I'm a 48 year old woman, 5'8", 150 lbs.  I have had lower back pain for 4 - 5 years now which has been getting worse and worse, moving down into my legs.  My "old" mattress was a simmons, paid over $1,000 and was not even 3 years old and had developed bad body impressions.

My experience:

The salesperson told me that it would take a little time for the mattress to break in AND it would take time for my body to adjust to the mattress.  He told me to walk on the mattress every day for a week to help break it in.

I received the mattress on Sunday.  I did not notice any odor.  The fabric on the mattress is very nice and the foundation is beautifull!  I walked on the mattress the first night as instructed.

The first night's sleep was horrible - the mattress was very stiff - it felt like sleeping on a board.  I got very little sleep and woke up with a sore back worse than usual.

Second night - I walked on the mattress again.  The mattress was a little less stiff.  I slept a little better, but woke up with NEW pains I've never had before in my neck and shoulders.

Third night - I walked on the mattress again.  The mattress was definitely less stiff!  I slept pretty good last night.  I have a little back pain this morning, but I THINK it might be a little better than I have experienced in a long time.

I'll keep you posted after a week or so.

Hi.. I am looking forward to your future posts.. I am approching my 30 days to either return it or keep it.  I purchased this Prodigy from a defective latex I had for only under 3 years.. loved that mattress except it became a hammock..  I have sciatica and back issues..   I truly didn't mind the firmness of the new Prodigy, my complaint now is as I continue to sink in at night it is giving my hips much pain.. almost too soft and then I sort of dig myself out to higher ground so to speak and it evens out..  I have walked and crawled all over my mattress to get is broken in, but it just isn't cutting it for me.. Not sure what to do as I didn't like  many of the other mattresses in the store so I either have to keep it and suffer or return it and take my chances on another that I won't be able to return.   I also get hot during the night on the bed and then is goes away when I toss the covers off, not sweating hot but pretty warm.   My husband likes it and he said  he wants to keep it, however he is tossing and turning all night long.   I have not had a decent sleep on it since it arrived.. Looking forward to your experiences please remember to post here.. Good luck with your mattress..
