I have been trying out new beds lately as I have beed having problems with my back. There are several companies touting their "new" memory foams that rebound quickly and don't respond to temperature. What is the difference between these new foams and plain old poly foam? Nothing that I can see. If a foam "springs back" and does not require some body heat to mold, then it will not feel like traditionall Tempupedic memory foam. I found it just feels like regular old foam, which I am sure is what it really is. The "new" memory foams are just a marketing ploy to get you to buy a cheap foam and think it will feel like a Tempurpedic. Buy with caution. I bought a Bed in the Box 4.3 lb density "new memory foam" topper. What a load of bull. It is just regular foam with no special properties other than weighing 4.3 lbs. |
just a man with a goal to educate people about mattresses by being something most sales PEOPLE arent.....HONEST.

there is a huge difference between memory foam and normal polyurathane foam. memory foam is more of a gum type foam which molds to your body the better the memory foam the better it molds to your body the cheaper it is the more it is comparable to normal poly foam. hope it helps and the new i comfort memory foam is just memory foam blended with pieces of gel. no big deal. |
We bought an Eco Comfort Memory foam mattress and woke up one morning and both of us were hurting badley, my shoulders, the wifes neck and back and we literally couldn't do anything strenuous the entire day and for the several days following. It took us a couple of days to realize it was the memory foam mattress that was making us miserable! We called the salesman that sold us the matress and he "then" told us to put a mattress heating pad or electric blanket on the bed all day to expand the mattress. It's off-season and we couldnt' find a mattress heating pad anywhere so we placed a couple of heating pads on the bed and alternated where they were and it's alittle better but we finally ordered a new bed heating pad off of EBay and it should be here early next week-hopefully. If this so-called comfort mattress doesn't "break-in," I'm calling the big store here in Oklahoma City and telling them to come get it and send us the pillowtop like we had before that started sagging. The bottom line is that the salespeople don't tell us everythng and we are responsible for researching and determining which mattress is right for us. Consumer Reports says that spending more money won't get a better or more comfortable mattress and that a good mattress can be obtained for far less money-spending more moeny won't necessarily get us a better mattress. |
