Is is normal for a latex mattress to soften?

I bought a Sealy Embody Shelter latex mattress about 2 months ago.  My husband has back problems and is only comfortable on a VERY firm mattress.  We did a lot of research and tried tons of beds before deciding on the Sealy.  It was so firm I had trouble sleeping on it the first few days, but it was great for my husband and I got used to it.  We've noticed the last few weeks that the mattress is a good bit softer.  Nothing like indentations, just a more plush feel (the difference is really apparent if I move to the middle where it still feels very firm).

Is this the normal effect of breaking in a latex mattress?  Or is there a possibility it will continue to soften?  I tend to think that even though the mattress feels a little more plush, it still has good support, but my husband has said since it's softened he's back to waking up several times a night.

Any thoughts would be appreciated--thanks!

Sorry to hear that!

It's my understanding that latex should not be softening like that.

We are on a Sealy Embody Introspection- their firmest memory foam and after a few months, it has softened up greatly and is beginning to wake me up with a sore back too :(
