Ordered my SleepEZ 10,000 (but worried now about firmness level)

Shawn recommended F/M/S so I went with that, but I just spent some time on a ReNu bed (latex layers on top soy foam). I was told it was medium firmness, and it felt perfect. Not too hard, not too smushy with plenty of support. They had one firmer and one softer, both felt wrong to me.

The salesman couldn't tell me anything about the firmness level of the latex, which there really is NOT much of anyway, but this, plus reading of other people's recent latex bed purchases, I'm wondering if I would be better off with XF/F/M. This is the natural Talalay, btw.

I'd be interested to know how others were able to choose what was best for them before trying, and how they fared.

Also - twin XL sheets and mattress protectors are almost impossible to find in stores around here!

This is key.  We *think* we like the feel of a softer mattress, but that is not always what is best for our bodies.  I'm going to take a giant leap here and say I bet your husband would be more comfortable with M/XF/XF or even F/XF/XF and add a 1" or 2" soft topper over the F/XF/XF.

I have never heard a report of a person with back issues having a positive experience with soft latex.  I really think you need to go firmer.  You'll be surprised.  My own back feels best with XF/XF/XF (all layers 36 ILD, and I have a 2" soft convoluted topper on top of those layers).

I think you may be right. Thanks for the idea. So do you think they will take back my soft top layer?. Or should I just add some firmer layers? since their shipping is so high. Shaun told me the next layers I would have to pay the shipping. That is when the other shoe dropped for me. I felt sick to my stomach because I thought they would take care of me till I found what works for me. I cannot afford to pay for shipping till I decide what works. So I will be forced to have to pay for a layer somewhere else. After receiving my NOMAD slat wood bed frame, it made my mattress a little firmer, so I unzipped the top of the cover, and just put the sheet over that. Now it feels yummy again, but sure enough I woke up with backaches. It's like if it feels good when you lie down, your gonna pay for it the next day. This bed is like being in a bad relationship, lol. You know it's driving you crazy, but your not willing to give it up.

Well . . . not sure how much shipping is going to be.  With Flobeds I think they have an arrangement with UPS.  When I returned a Flobeds layer of latex, Flobeds sent me the mailing label, I packaged up the latex, put it in the box, affixed the label, and the shipping back to Flobeds was only about $20.  And I didn't pay to have the new layer shipped to me.

I wouldn't worry and stew too much.  I think you have to just accept that you may need to make some adjustments to find the right comfort level for you.  Consider this a long term investment, your latex bed will last you the next 15 years of your life, or more.  Investing the time and energy to find a comfortable arrangment is worth it now.  I don't remember without going back and looking through all your postings, but maybe call Sean and see what he says.  Off the top of my head, I'd say take the softest layer each of you has and trade it for one layer firmer.  I bet your husband will be happier if you do this for his side too.

We've had our Sleep EZ bed for about 7 weeks, soft, med, firm, xfirm and we love it. My husband and I both have Sciatica and hip pain.....this configuration has helped both of us a great deal. Relax, and sleep on it for a few weeks, the great news is you can switch your layers to other configurations if you feel the need. Sean is wonderful and Sleep EZ is great to work with. I think you've made a wise purchase and will find you are very happy.
