I am interested in a Simmons World Class Paris mattress from Sleep Train. I am still doing comparison shopping and I am wondering what other names does this model go by. Also the salesperson quoted me a price of $1200 for a full size plush firm. Please let know if this is a good price and any other feedback would be appreciated. Thanks. |
Sorry, can't help you. But this sounds likek a job for Alex! If you don't get a response, try messaging Alexander our resident (former) mattress retailer. |
Fubu, The specific model names are going to vary based on retailer. Simmons only makes a few versions of their World Class beds. however, so you're more or less fine comparison any two mattresses so long as they say "World Class" they will be relatively close. Pricing is harder to to judge. I can tell you that for where I live (Midwest) $1200 is reasonable for a Full or Queen size World Class Simmons. On the east or west coasts this would be an exceptional deal. Fulls and Queens are generally the same price in most spring mattreses. Keep in mind that a Full is the same length as a Twin and if you or your partner is over about 5'10" the bed will be too small for you. Having so much as a toe hanging over the edge of your bed is horrific for your back. So far as the specific bed goes, Simmons has an annoying habit of labeling their beds as "inbetween". They do it so consumers aren't scared off by a bed labeled "plush" or "firm". What we're interested in here is the gauge of the coil. Ask the salesguy whether it's the 15.25ga or the 13ga. If it's the former the bed is a plush. If it's the latter the bed is a firm. If you or your partner is over about 220lbs you do not want the thinner 15.25ga coil. If you're more in the 150-200lbs range the coil is fine and will respond well to you. If you're a side sleeper that experiences back pain with your current mattress be aware that your body is probably crying out for a firmer mattress than you actually want. If it is the 13ga firm and you're a side sleeper make sure the retailer has a trial period with exchange or refund just in case you end up needing to switch to something softer. Other than that, Simmons is a good brand that gives you more of a hugging feel than a deep firm. The 13ga Simmons firm is (IME) the most popular of the actual Firms (the least popular feel in a bed) because it gives you a firm touch without the sleeping on a board feeling. Hope it works well for you! -Alex This message was modified Sep 9, 2009 by Alexander
