These are the two latex mattresses I have been able to sample in my area. It is difficult for me to tell which will be best to relieve my discomfort from pressure points. One web site (BedPlanet.com) says that the Sealy Embody Perspective is constructed as follows (from top to bottom): 2" smart latex, 1" high density polyurethane foam, 2" smart latex, 2" high density SS foam, 4" latex core with interlock system Meanwhile, the PureBliss Nutrition is all latex, with a 6" talalay latex support layer and 4" talalay latex pressure relief layer The advantages of the Sealy Perspective is a (roughly) $500 price advantage for a king, as well as the local family-owned store that is selling it. I am somewhat loathe to deal with the Sleepys that is selling the Pure Latex Biss. However, pressure point discomfort has been a major insomnia issue for me. Does it really make an appreciable difference to have all latex versus the various layering of the Perspective? Any insights are welcome!!
For the king size, the Nutrition is roughly $500 more. |
I also am looking at the Pure Latex Bliss at Sleepy's. Currently have Tempurpedic Cloud Luxe that I most likely won't keep after the 90 day trial (unless something miraculous happens in the next couple weeks) so I am looking into exchanging for another bed. If you made a decision Cindia, I would love to know what you chose or what else you have found out. I would probably go with the all latex mattress as opposed to the Sealy which as the poly foam. I've been trying to find reviews on the Pure Latex Bliss - besides the Sleepy's website - but have not had that much success. |
I also emailed the people at Custom Sleep Design in Connecticut and they said if you can not get a custom latex mattress, the Pure Latex Bliss is very similar to theirs. I am actually going to check out the Nutrition tonight - had to find a store with it in their showroom. I may end up having to go that route myself, but it was reassuring to know that if I could not get a custom latex mattress that the Pure Latex Bliss was close. |
I ended up buying the Nutrition. I'm basically happy, though now I wonder why I was so obverse to buying online. I thought I'd have better service at a local store (Sleepy's) then online. However, the delivery experience was harrowing. I didn't realize Sleepy's hires independent contractors. They were unprofessional. Among other things, they folded the mattress at one point in transferring it to my house (wasn't necessary) and I only found out later (under the online care instructions) that it should not be folded. They also let the plastic wrapping fall off and smudge a corner. Probably not a big deal overall but it sure eliminates any "personal service" advantages of a local store. Of course, the store still has the advantages of personal testing, which is not an option online. Let me know what you decide. |
I don't know anything about the Sealy, but I too am considering the Pure Latex Bliss [Nature] mattress from Sleepys, queen size with a Leggett and Platt adjustable bed foundation. I have been planning to order on-line, but the price and service offered were very good, at least on paper. However, I'm sure that I said I wanted natural latex, and I subsequently found (and confirmed) the following on-line: "The Talalay latex we use is 100% latex with approximately 40% Natural and 60% synthetic latex blend." I guess it's still "pure" latex but certainly not very natural. I guess I don't honestly know how important "natural" is, and apparently all have a bit of synthetic mixed in, but this seems predominantly synthetic. Plus no one has anything very good to say about Sleepys. So I remain confused, and the whole research and decision process is quite nerve-wracking. I'm not sure about the mattresses with different layers that you can exchange, since it would prolong the decision process. Hope the information is helpful, and I'd appreciate any advice that others may have on the best option. |
Cindia - do you like the mattress? When I lie on them in the store, they feel wonderful but I don't know if they are firm enough - since I did not like the sinking feeling of the tempurpedic. Let me know how you've made out. I am sending my tempurpedic back and leaning towards the latex. I, too, agree about the custom layered mattresses - it would make the decision nerve wracking, always wondering if you could make the mattress better! |
The PLB Nutrition is certainly much firmer then it was in the showroom. I am having trouble accounting for that, since I hear latex does not break down much. Any thoughts, anyone? I need another week to decide conclusively, but some nights I still have pressure point discomfort. However, the firmness is certainly good for my back. Overall a good bed, but I probably will end up adding a topper for comfort. |
I have done a lot of research in the last 10 days on different types of beds, and the longest lasting material is the latex.i was looking at the tempurpedics, but decided to stay away from them. i went to sleepy's today and laid on many beds.the best feeling beds were the latex bliss without a doubt. the talalay used in their beds is made by latex international, the largest producer of talalay in north america. "the plb are composed of 60/40 synthetic/natural. 100% all natural is less durable,30" heavier and wears out faster than the synthetic blend". i am going to purchase the plb pamper this week.i laid on the 8" plb with a 3" topper and it was the most supportive and supple feeling i have ever gotten out of a bed. i'm glad i spent 100 hours or so doing research or i may of ended up with a smelly memory foam bed with possible premature sag in it. for what it is worth you may want to stay away from the talalay and memory foam combos. i have read over and over that the memory foam will give long before the latex. spend the extra money and get an all latex bed. |
I have owned the PLB nutrition for months now, without a topper I wouldn't be comfortable on it, so we went with the two inch topper and it's incredibly comfortable. I actually wish I went for the three incher now. Anyway love the bed and the comfort factor, however I would say we're noticing mild body impressions on it already. Probably not 3/4 of an inch, I am just hoping they don't get worse, since we've only had the bed three months or so and we're not heavy people AT ALL. The sole reason I went with this material was to avoid the body impressions we had with our old mattress, so I may call the company and ask if this is just an initial break-in kind of thing. As long as they don't get worse I am ok with how it is now, but my experience with body impressions is they get worse. I will most certainly warranty the bed if they do and post it here for others benefit if I have to go that route and the impressions worsen.
Other than that we couldn't be happier with the comfort of the mattress overall, once you adjust to it all aches and pains seem to disappear. Best comfort we've ever had in a bed, durability is still questionable since they are such a new company and new product. |
I work in a showroom in Southern California. We sell Pure Latex Bliss. We do not sell Sealy. We are picky about what we decide to show on the floor. The Pure Latex Bliss has a fantastic warranty like Tempur-Pedic. 3/4" or more of a depression, its replaced free for the first 10 year. Prorated the second half. The Pure Latex Bliss uses the less is more technique. I believe their thickest mattress has only 3 layers of latex. Less to depress. The loose fitting topper is a great addition to any of thier beds (especially the Nutrition). After 7-10 years, you replace the topper, the mattress stays in tip top shape. The topper acts as a mattress protector, after years of sweating and breathing into your topper, its hygenic to have it replaced every 7-10 years. Plus the pillow top in any mattress is the first thing to depress. The replaceable topper is key in keeping the wear and tear off the mattress.
Get the Pure Latex Bliss. It will last longer, it will feel better, and you have more options when you need to change your comfort ( firm/soft toppers, 2" or 3" thickness)
Best Regards, BWells
