2 Questions regarding Boxsprings/Foundations

Hello everyone, I was just wondering if anyone knows if this Boxspring has springs in it, or if it's just a wooden box? http://www.sleepys.com/en/Sleepys-Direct-Advantage-Boxspring-Foundation_51901/
Also, is it safe to put a Boxspring and mattress on the floor? Or do you have to have some kind of frame?

The link is to a "boxspring", so I would say it has springs in it.
