Last year around June, we bought a couple of adjustable beds from Denver Mattress Co., with partial memory foam mattresses, because we needed relief from pressure points when we sleep on our sides. I HAVE to sleep on my sides and at age 62, have been having problems for years now, where the arm on top becomes numb and I have to turn over, and then again.... Must be a pressure point problem? I'm not complaining about the store. The only real problem was that, just lying on them in the store, doesnt tell you if they actually can solve the problem for you. They helped some but didn't solve the problem. Yet we spent about $3500 for two adjustable beds and mattresses, that we're still paying off. ( just transferred it to a lower interest account to finish that and avoid the "1 year same as cash" interest hit. ) Any suggestions on what to do now? |
Melissa,
I know that you said that you HAVE to sleep on your side, but, I don't think there is any "sleeping" advantage for side sleepers with an adjustable bed. Before you guys spend a lot more money playing the "what's the best mattress" game, you should make another attempt to sleep on your backs with the bed just slightly "adjusted" from flat. Very difficult, but just think how happy you will be if you are successful. Philip This message was modified May 6, 2010 by Philip

I am a little confused in that you say the "arm on top" becomes numb. I assume you are talking about your arm under you, that is on the mattress? One thing that might help with your pressure points is a zoned mattress like the vzone from flobeds. That allows you to put softer latex under your shoulders to reduce the pressure there, while having firmer support elsewhere. It does make a difference. Unfortunately, if you sell your current (used) mattress you probably will lose a lot. I assume it cannot be returned? |
