So far so good regards it is plenty firm enough, no back pain, but it sleeps warm...Originally wife had mattress cover on it that we put on and I took it off and that helped, before I decide on this what can I buy real quick and put on that will eliminate the warmness I feel against the mattress?

thanks

Costco has an awesome mattress pad on sale, $20 for a queen. In the store. Worth a try, you can always take it back.

Randy, does this mattress seem softer than the Tempurpedic?   In general, the more you sink into a mattress the warmer it will feel, because you have more contact with the surface of the mattress.   So, it was cooler without a mattress pad?   What is the mattress pad made out of?

Some people think that wool will sleep cooler in summer (but also warmer in winter).  I had a wool filled cover and a wool filled mattress pad, and that did not seem to make it cooler (at least this time of year - maybe it would help in reallly hot weather).

My latex seemed a little coooler when I configured it firmer and had a thick mattress pad (poly filled) with an additinal cotton pad over thatt.  However, the weather has also been cooler, so I am not totally sure if the thick pad helped that much.  I think the firmer set up was the main cause, along with the cooler weather.

I think a neutral temperature material like cotton or silk (or even horse hair?)  would probably help.  It probably would have to be fairly thick to make a significant difference.  A thin cotton filled mattress pad did not solve the problem for me.  I have not tried a thick pad of any of those materials, so I cannot say for sure.

They also sell products like a bedfan and a cool pad (that pumps cooled water in a pad above the mattress), but I have not tried those.  They probably make noise and might have other issues.

Bottom line is that it is a difficult problem to solve.   A water bed can be cool, since you can control the temperature.  A firm innerspring should be cooler as welll, but then you run into comfort issues.

Softer than the temp?  The materials are so different I cant say that, what I will say is the Temp has a firmness to it where the latex has a springy ness to it, does that make sense?  The latex mattress is firm enough so that my lower back doesnt ache, which is all that matters to me...but if I had to measure I would say the temp is firmer...

The pad was cotton I assume, but who knows, could be polyester also, will have to check later...Yes, when I took the mattress pad off it cooled somewhat.

I have 6 weeks left of my 90 days on the temp, so I am going to (with the help of my son and my handy man) sleep on the latex till Monday, then have it moved out and sleep again on the temp for a week then decide...I was hoping to buy something now to try on the Latex for the heat issue but dont know what.

Remember, to further complicate this, for 6 weeks i was in agony with the tempurpedic, then the last two nights before the latex showed up, pain disappeared  LOL   I know, crazy...so, it may well be that i end up with the temp, dont know...

PS  you said "solve the problem"  so am I to understand you are having an issue with sleeping warm also?  are you on flobeds?  what have they suggested?
