A couple of questions about Tempur-Pedic

We have been looking at a Tempur-Pedic Rhapsody and have a couple of questions which I hope someone can answer for me.

1.  The salesman and the literature state that it is not necessary to rotate this matterss.  This seems strange to me.  Do current owners rotate or not?

2.  The cost difference between a split-king and a standard king is somewhere around $1,700.  Does the make up of the split system justify the extra cost?

Thanks

A split king is the same as two twin XL's and that's exactly what you'll pay with Tempurpedics (and maybe other brands?).

Look at twin XL price, multiply by 2, it's the split king price

I guess the real benefit of split king is you could each choose your twin XL mattress.  If yours wears out, other half still likes theirs, replace one side.  Might look funny if mattress height is lot different.

I don't know if any vendor makes a king adjustable, but if so, it would be incredibly heavy.  The advanced ergo TP twin adjustable bases weigh over 170 lbs.  The Queen is like 235 lbs.  So, if you want to go 1 or 2 adjustables, I think having 2 twin XL's would greatly help that.

1)  Number 4 in the TP 'use and care instructions' states 'you never have to flip or rotate you TP mattress ..."

I don't plan to rotate.  I hope I don't have to rotate.  If it holds this feel for x years, I'm set.

However #6 says 'mattress may have slight odor ... harmless and will dissipate within a few days'..............

Uh, not in my opinion on the dissipate.  At 4 weeks, I could still smell a slight odor when entering closed room.  I must mention I bought a brand new TP Comfort pillow 4 days before the Cloud mattress, so that was contributing to the odor as well.

After 4 weeks, I switched to the fixed foundation and that has an odor also (they use adhesive in making it).

So, I won't deny for a minute that TP's are a bit smelly, they are.

Still, it's the best combo of support and comfort I've ever slept on.  Quality seems quite high.  If they could cop this feel in a odorless, or organic type material, and it lasts, that would be .... perfect.

All that said, I really do like the mattress and have no intentions of returning.  It feels like 'my bed' and that's a relief being it's the 5th new mattress I had in home since May,.. this year!

Thank you.  This is exactly the type of information I was looking for.  Any information available on the weight of the Rhapsody king mattress and the twin xl rhapsody for comparison?  Most of the salespeople I have come in

contact with seem to have only have memorized a few talking points on each brand to aid in making the sale.

Mine is an 8" thick Cloud in twin XL, and it's a little heavy to carry solo.  It probably weighs about 60 lbs (my latex mattress was almost 80 lbs).

A 12" Rhapsody twin xl maybe close to 80 lbs.  Perhaps the King is 160 lb piece and bulky.  Just guesses, but dense foam is heavy.

Innersprings have all that hollow space between springs whereas foam is all filled in.
