Cuddlebed
I'm thinking about adding another topper layer. A lot of people here refer to the cuddlebed, which I take it is some kind of fiberbed topper. Is there a specific one people prefer? is that the brand name? Is it "CuddleBed," all 1 word? Cause I can't really find info about this brand via google and I couldn't find anything specific on this forum either. Any input appreciated... Steve |
Re: Cuddlebed
We just bought a Cuddle Bed (two words) from Costco. I don't know if you can get it anywhere else, it may just be one of those things only available through Costco. Yeah, there is a sale going on right now. For a king, with shipping and 5% non-member price penalty, it was still right under $50 bucks. This is basically a mattress pad with lots of polyester fiberfill. The stretchy skirt and the cotton fabric is very good quality. I think this is what you would call a "Down Alternative" or "Gel" mattress pad. I was at JC Penny this weekend and they had what felt like the exact same thing as the Cuddle Bed, and they called it their "Down Alternative" line. Here is a link on their website to what I saw in the store : http://www4.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?DeptID=59474&CatID=59748&GrpTyp=STY&ItemID=14723b7&attrtype=&attrvalue=&CmCatId=59474|59491|59748 As far as this "Gel" thing goes, I think it is just polyfill with something like paraffin wax coated fibers. This is based on the signage in the store, and what I've come across on the internet. It does have a sort of "gel" feel to it. The Cuddle Bed adds a nice pillow top feel without taking it too far. However, so far it seems to me that it sleeps hotter than our old and plain mattress pad. Its been getting cooler at night here, so we'll probably keep using it until next spring/summer. The Cuddle Bed is a good deal at $50 and I recommend it. This message was modified Sep 30, 2008 by LatencyMachine
