My wife and I are considering putting together a foam/latex bed from FBM...details still to be determined...still learning so much from this site...

My question is:  We want to go from a Queen to a King.  I would assume we need to replace the legs and foundation?  Do I still need a box spring when making a transition to foam/latex?   If I still need the legs/rails and box spring, where would you guys recommend buying a king set?  I don't see anything on FBM...  Also what type would you recommend?

If you decide to go with latex foam, you will need some kind of platform bed with slats under the latex foam to allow the latex to breath.  There are vendors that sell wood foundations that take the place of a box spring.  They are shipped knocked down/ready to assemble.   http://www.amazon.com/VersiFlex%C2%AE-Mattress-Boxspring-Foundation-mattresses/dp/B002AHT94Y/ref=sr_1_2?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1329612491&sr=1-2

Thanks for your reply hariwanna!   Would you recommend staying with wood or would this be okay?  http://www.amazon.com/Pragma-Bed%C2%AE-Mattress-Platform-mattresses/dp/B002LJTGVC/ref=sr_1_4?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1329623346&sr=1-4   This had better reviews than the one you linked and cheaper as well...

For about $100 more including shipping you could get something more like furniture, good reviews, matching accessories available, no headboard for the King though.

I went for the KD wood foundation so I could have it on casters that are part of the steel bed frame.  The steel frame also connects to a headboard.

The folding steel frame doesn't have the casters.  I was also concerned with the steel rods being too narrow to properly support the latex slabs.

Another alternative (if you live near an Ikea store) would be to take a look at Ikea's beds.  They sell platform beds with slats; adjustable beds with slats; platform beds with slats and storage drawers underneath; and various wood bed slat inserts to go into wood frames.
