Do I need a Zippered Cover for a Latex Topper?

I was planning to buy a 1" or 2" latex topper for our new Otis bed from FBM. I was wondering if it is necessary to spend the money for a zippered cover for the topper? The Otis Bed has a tight fitting cover so it may be hard to put the latex directly in there. My plan was to have a covered mattress and then a latex topper and then a fitted sheet over everything. Is that a good system?

Thanks so much!

Thanks for the response!

Glad to know I do not need to buy a cover. But the wool/cotton mattress cover is something I hadn't thought of and looks like that is even MORE expensive. :)

I will try the latex without the wool for awhile and see how we get on but glad to know there is a good solution out there if we need better temperature control. I appreciate the advice!
