Hello all!  I've read through this forum quite a bit, and found some very valuable information.  I would like to thank all of you for that!

In my search for the "perfect bed", I have found this site www.satbed.com that sells what seems like a very high quality air-adjustable mattress.  They use latex (or memory foam) and wool toppers, much like FloBeds (which I am also highly considering).  In short, they use very high-quality components.

I consider many of the "popular" brands that invest heavily in advertising to be gimmiky, so I'm trying to avoid them.  I also want a bed from a manufacurer that has been around a while, and I can be confident about their warranty.

The Natural Form bed with "sat" technology seems well constructed, and I love the fact that it's adjustable, has 8 different "zones", and doesn't require an air pump!

The 90 day trial, 20 year warranty (10 non-prorated), and 100% satisfaction garuantee are icing on the cake.

If anyone has experience with these beds, and would like to share, I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks!

Aron

I bought the SAT bed back in October, CalKing Size. I liked the customer service, the no motor aspect and the wool topper. It's straight wool fluff that you put your sheets on. However, I began o notice that I sank when I would roll across the center of the bed. This bugged me to no end.... the sides are supported by the air chambers but the middle didn't seem to offer the same support. I'd wake up every morning in the middle sunken in. Anyways, SAT tried to help me, but no avail. I returned the bed late Jan. I ended up losing around 400 dollars of shipping costs, but did keep the two pillows I got with the bed from a promotion. Now I'm sleeping on a Flobed which I like better. It may be too firm for me, but it's consistent feeling across the bed.

So, I would give SAT a + for customer service and helpfullness. A - for the bed itself in my circumstances.

We bought our king size Natural Form (formerly SAT) bed in December 2007. The previous 3 (gruelling) years were spent tossing and turning on a Select Comfort 5000. On that bed, I would wake up several times a night with loss of feeling in my arms if I had been sleeping on my side. I would also wake up with clammy skin (there was a small amount of mildew on the air mattress cover as a result of no air circulation). I started having back problems. The a-ha moment for me was after tent camping, sleeping on a queen size air mattress. You can see when the heaviest parts of your body sink down, the air in the mattress under the light parts of your body, mainly your legs, goes up. There is no support where you need it. Select Comfort is a single chambered air mattress with a big price tag.

In the Fall of 2007, we took a trip to Rome and stayed at a Hilton Garden Inn. They have the Natural Form beds. We had the best 3 nights of sleep in years. We took the sheets off and inspected the guts. Very well made using quality materials. The 8 chambers on each side made so much more sense. As the heavy parts of your body sink down, the chambers expel air out - not into the next chamber where you would be pushed up. The support was really good for when I slept on my back or side and I didn't have any soreness in the morning. The icing on the cake is the wool topper. I'll be going through menopause in a few years and dreaded the thought of waking up in a pool of trapped sweat on the Select Comfort. The wool topper would absorb everything and would be machine washable.

We purchased the bed through the manufacturer in Hoosick Falls, NY. Surprisingly, not easy to find - they don't advertise. The beds are made in the USA and the company has been around for many years. The customer service was excellent. It wasn't cheap - $2300 but we rationalized that we spent 1/3 of our lives in bed. We had 90 days to try it out and could return to get our money back. We knew in a week it was staying. We never woke up in the night to move around and get comfortable. My sore back got better. We comment often how much better we sleep now, thanks to the bed. The wool topper is a luxury and as the salesperson told us, it keeps you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. We are so thankful that we found this bed - we love it! We sold the Select Comfort bed on Craigslist and didn't get much for it - there are dozens of them for sale and any given time!

We purchased a King size Natural Form from the manufacturer in NY, received it late December, 2009.  As suggested, we set both sides at "optimum", but found it to be too firm. We then set both sides to "low", but could not see any difference.  This is a really firm mattress.  I called Natural Form, spoke to an owner.  He said there is very little difference in the settings, that the dial is there, primarily, to allow you to feel you have some control.  The mattress is actually set for the scientifically proven correct firmness.  Not sure I buy that....He also said your body needs to adjust to the mattress, that after years of sleeping poorly supported it could take four or five weeks to make the adjustment.

We were under the impression this mattress would adjust to us...not the other way around.  After 8 weeks of sleeping poorly and waking with lower back pain, we are returning the mattress.  Please be aware, their return policy requires that you ship via their designated carrier (Old Dominion) and they  withhold $150.00 from your refund for the freight.  I arrange freight for my business and know I could ship this for under $100, but they won't allow it.  Also, be certain you keep the original packing material as the mattress must be boxed for shipment, not just plastic wrapped.  I am spending another $95 to have a moving company bring the bed downstairs and box it.

I won't say the bed is bad, but it has proven bad for us.  If you like a very, very firm mattress, this may be the one for you.  Just be aware that it really is not adjustable - your body must do the adjusting.  For $2,500, I just don't want to have to learn to like it.
