Thanks to all, for all the useful information found on this forum.  A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I, received our FloBed material.  We purchased, with the Memorial Day pricing.   We went with the pine foundation and the Posture Deluxe mattress.  Best guessing the firmness, we went with a F/F/XF combination, on both sides.  We placed the pine foundation, right on top of our existing metal frame.  This way, we didn't have to hassle with refitting our existing headboard.  Obviously. only legs fitted to the inside part of the foundation were needed.  Luckily, the supporting struts on the metal frame, didn't interfere with the newly installed foundation legs. I put the entire bed together, by myself.   I found no issues, with the building of the pine foundation.  The pine foundation was very well built.  I followed the instructions and completed the assembly, with no issues.  All the latex layers lined up perfectly.  The topper was installed, with the "bumps" up.  The wool topper zippered perfectly, onto the "bottom" half.  We treated ourselves, to a new set of Comphy sheets.  Extremely nice sheets (soft and real deep pockets).  We used a bed skirt, so we had to have our local cleaner "hem" the bottom.  The FloBed pine foundation/metal frame was only 12.5" high.  So far, so good.  Initial impressions ...  Maybe, a little too soft.  Well give it some time.  Oh, another thing ..  When we received all the material, we opened the tops of the plastic bags, holding the latex layers and let them "gas out", for a couple of days.  There was only a mild smell, at first.  We were in no rush.  That's our experience, so far.

What did you end up with for your top layer F or XF?   On mine we throught it might be too soft with our F top, but over time it seems to be working well.

I've just requested an exchange, for our middle F layer.  We'll exchange it for an XF.  Then, we'll have a F/XF/XF configuration.  Right now, our bed feels entirely too soft.  There's too much "sinking in".  We're of average height/weight.  We're looking for the feel, of one of the higher end Tempur-pedics (Rhapsody).  But, we would never go with a Tempur.  Stay tuned.

Some question splease:

1. how long did it take you to put foundation together? why did you chose only pine fundation?

2. Can this latex bed be just put on a bed that has slatted foundation already made into it? So one does not have to buy the flobeds foundation?

3. what would you say would be the best configuration of latex firmness layers so that the latex mattress does not bottom out when you sleep on it? Mind you I weigh 200 lbs or so.

4. How hard is it to put the layex mattress together and zip it inside the mattress cover?

Thanks

An update ...  We installed the newly arrived XF layer.  So now, our configuration is Convoluted topper, Firm, Extra Firm, Extra Firm.  I didn't think the new XF layer would make much of a difference, but, it did.  The newly added XF layer definitely "tightened" up the overall feel, of the mattress.  We'll trial this combination for a while.  Then, maybe try one other modification.  Other than that, we're sleeping soundly.  The Comphy sheets continue to amaze, with their softness.  I've just ordered the Dormeir mattress pad.  Changing out the layers is really no big deal.  The mattress cover just zips right off.  When the new layers are added, just simply zip the whole thing back up.  Nothing to it.

You will not be disappointed with the wool mattress pad!  I got the Natura washable wool pad instead of the Dormeir (mistake) but still love how the wool/cotton pad evens out the way the latex bed regulates heat.  It's amazing!  I am sleeping cool and comfortable even on these HOT east coast summer nights.   I believe the Dormeir has softer stitching and better finish than the Natura but they are both similar in function.

PS.   My latex layers are just about the same that you have now also.  M/F/XF/XF and I'm sleeping well.

Another update ..  Awhile ago, I request a SF layer.  Just curious, I guess.  So, now we're rocking on SF, XF, XF, Convoluted.  The combination of the SF on the bottom and bringing the XF almost to the top, REALLY tightened up the mattress.  My initial impression ..  It almost feels like a regular/new mattress now.  It's lost some of that cushiness.  But, we're still sleeping soundly and don't feel any pressure point pain.  Tonight, I'm going to re-install the F layer (below the convoluted layer) ...  Just on my side.  Just playing around.  Most likely, I'll probably stay with the SF, XF, F, Convoluted, on my side.  Stay Tuned.

Frogboy2727, Congratulations on your new FloBed!  I also started out too soft when I ordered my FloBed and now my final configuration for about 3 years is my soft later topper, then XF, then XF and SF on the bottom of both sides but one of my sides has firmer XF latex ID's numbers on the core since it averaged firmer. I love the feeling of my latex bed that is firm and supportive but without pressure points so I am not turning so much like I did when sleeping on a conventional mattress.  I also don't wake up with a stuffed nose anymore.  Please keep us updated.

Another update ..  We received the Dormeir mattress cover.  Extremely well made.  So, we installed the mattress cover over our Convoluted, XF, XF, SF configuration.  Too nice ...  My wife said, that the mattress cover removed the ever so slightly feel of the Convoluted topper "peaks".  This will (probably) be our final configuration.  We'll wait another week.  My only suggestion to future buyers ...  Start ALOT firmer, than you would have ever thought.  Thats if, you're used to a firm mattress.

Congrats!   I knew you would like that wool mattress pad.   The wool pad seems to even out the feel and temperature of the latex mattress.  I'm still enjoying my Natura wool and cotton pad but am jealous of all who got the Dormeir....haha!   Live and learn.
