What is this convoluted top layer that flobeds sells? Well if I get a V zone mattress how come Vzones will work if they got this convoluted layer on the top and V zone underneath this convoluted layer? This is highly puzzling? may be I should put a post asking this? Is this convoluted topper necessary? It is 14 ILD isn't it? will 2 inch of 14ILd toper make a hard mattress turn into a soft mattress? |
Hey! We just recently purchased a Flobeds mattress. We did the vZone thing, and the previous poster is absolutely right . . . it is very difficult to get the feel just right. I think I finally figured out the right balance between comfort and support for me, but even that just has way too much going on. I'm finding that I have to sleep in exactly the right spot, or I wake up in pain in the morning. I'm actually getting ready to talk to Dewey about sending it back, as we're nearing the end of our trial period, and I'm still not sleeping well on the mattress. But that's beside the point. I don't want to scare you away from buying the mattress . . . Flobed's customer service is amazing, and they will bend over backwards to try to make sure they figure out a way to make their product work for you. I just happen to be in that 5% that can't sleep on talalay latex, apparently. My husband has been sleeping happily on his side of our mattress for the entire two months we have had it, so it does work well for some. The soft convoluted layer is meant to be just thick enough to relieve pressure points. This, in my mind, is very much necessary to help smooth over the transitions between firmnesses in the zones of the vZone layer, if that makes any sense at all. You wouldn't think one layer would make much of a difference, but it does. And a 1 inch layer really is not much at all, especially with as soft as it is. It's just there for pressure point relief. Trust me when I say this . . . you can still feel the vZones underneath it. In fact, you can still get the benefits of the vZone layer even when that layer is all the way at the bottom of your mattress, which is where I have mine right now. Sometimes, having the vZone layer on top (right under the convoluted layer) is just too much . . . so bumping it down one or two layers will give you a different feel . . . a little less "oomph," but still allowing different parts of your body to sink in or stay supported as needed. I don't know if that makes any sense at all. You would be surprised at how different your mattress feels with swapping layers around. With latex, even the slightest little change can be felt. The feel of the layers on top is very much affected by the layers on the bottom and the foundation underneath. The convoluted layer at the top of the mattress will not turn a hard mattress into a soft mattress. Not at all. It is not nearly thick enough for that. You will still find, even with that layer, that if the mattress itself is too firm, the convoluted layer does not help much at all. But when you have it configured right, the convoluted layer is very nice . . . providing just enough softness to keep your shoulders and hips from hurting. Hope this helps! |
Extensively reading on the forum it seems Flobeds V zone is too complicated to get right. So a request to Flobeds to make their V zone with less layers say 3-5 instead of so many that they are making it now. perhaps that will work. Thank you Flobeds. |
