While I sit here waiting for my SleepEZ 13000 mattress which arrives tomorrow, I had a chance to surf a few latex bed websites. I noticed something about the Flobed vs SleepEZ firmness exhange program. SleepEz only uses brand new comfort layers for their comfort exchange. Flobeds uses previously used layers that are "sanitized" or for $50 more, you can have brand new. Glad I went with SleepEZ because the thought of a previously used layer skeeves me out. Two of my latex core exchanges were brand new since I wanted a specific firmness at the high end of the Extra Firm latex ILD ranges. I never slept on any of the cores since they are always under a topped zippered up in the mattress cover. I do not know anyone who would buy from FloBeds who would sleep directly on a latex core. I needed to know that if a latex bed was not for me, that I could return it without a restocking fee. My price of the FloBed latex bed became a little less than SleepEz after all the discounts I got during the 90 day period as I looked at the site each day to see when the price dropped or a special deal was given (i.e., I ended up getting the slat box with the legs for free when I saw it was a special so I emailed and called right away) The first cover I got was not that great and had a little tear so Dave waited until all my latex core exchanges were done and then sent me the new mattress cover. He told me to wait since he would be getting nicer covers and he sure was right. I love the feel and comfort of the zippered cover and love the protective material under the zipper so the latex does not get caught. |

I bought from FloBeds but I can see the original poster's point, presuming all the info he presented is true (I'm not saying it isn't). I can also see why FloBeds would do that (presuming my guess is correct). If they gave everyone a new core for free, then no one would accept a previously-exchanged core ever, and then how is FloBeds supposed to avoid losing massive amonts of money as a result of having no use for any exchanged core? It gets me wondering also: what does SleepEZ do with the exchanged cores? Surely they don't just throw them out? So how do they avoid losing massive amounts of money on the exchanged cores, if they do not re-distribute them to other customers? Or, if they do throw out all exchanged cores, how do they avoid losing massive amounts of money from doing that? Here is where the return policy is stated. 60 day return policy with 15% restocking plus shipping and handling. Right on their website. If the policy is incorrect, they should correct the website. Otherwise the return/exchange policy is just plain not as good as Flobeds. I do think Sleepez sells a great product and by all accounts offers great customer service. The written policies are not as liberal as Flobeds. It has been mentioned in these forums before that Sleepez states a different policy on the phone than they state on the website (e.g., number of exchanges) and if their policies align with Flobeds, they need to accurately state the correct policies on the website. Otherwise I think they are losing potential business. I know the restocking fee stated on their website prevented me from seriously considering them . . . along with some other factors, such as they state that they source their latex from multiple companies, where I only wanted LI latex . . . Honestly though Plamarine, we are not in an "us vs. them" discussion. Each company has it's pros and cons, and each company has customers who have been thrilled with the product and customer service they received. According to SleepEZ, the traded cores are "The returned replacement layer is taken out of production. All comfort layers are brand new." That is quoted from the Sleepez.com website. I went to the new Sleepez site. I must say, I consider myself almost an old pro at latex because I've been immersed in latex research for a good 5 months or more now . . . but I'm more confused than ever about blended vs 100% natural Talalay latex. Sleepez seems to promote blended Talalay pretty heavily on their website . . . . Flobeds doesn't promote 100% natural quite as agressively but they do seem to come down solidly in the 100% natural camp. I'm tempted to try the Sleepez mattress for my daughter. It's about the same price as the Sam's Club Dunlop mattress, so I can get the Talalay I prefer at a price comparable to the Dunlop. There are differences between the Flobeds and Sleepez mattresses. The Sleepez seems to come in 8.5", 10" and 13" models, the Flobeds comes in 8.5" and 11.25", or 9" and 12" if you get 100% natural talalay. It looks like the difference is in the fact that with Sleepez, you get the three layers of latex. With Flobeds, you get the three layers plus the 2" convoluted topper. Also, I'm not sure about the mattress cover. Sleepez says it's a damask cover, and the Flobeds cover is soft knit cotton. Looking them over, I'm guessing I would get the 10000 model for my daugther. I'll need to call them and ask about the cover though. Also, they source latex from many places (one of the reasons I didn't consider them in the first place). In Talalay, I'd only be interested in LI latex, so I'll need to find out if they honor requests for specific latex sourcing. |

When I ordered from Shawn, I asked if I was getting LI latex and he said I was. The 13000 model is actually 4 full layers, for 13", and I just reviewed it in the review section. It just arrived a few hours ago. Call Shawn up, he is a great guy to talk to. |
Meaning, it is thrown out? I'm sooooo curious about how they don't lose massive amounts of money if that is true. Won't someone please ask them that and then post the answer in this thread. |

I am also curious what SleepEZ does with the exchanged latex cores. I also feel both FloBeds and SleepEZ should offer different topper thicknesses ranging from 1", 1.5" to 2". I ended up returning my topper to FloBeds and buying a 1" topper from Brylane Homes since I needed only a little bit of a cushion and could not sleep with the 2" topper but could not sleep without a topper due to sleeping on my side and needing some cushion on the pressure points. The old cover from FloBeds I did not like but the new cover I love. |
| I love the organic cotton/wool mattress cover that came with my SleepEZ 13000 bed. I had my first night sleep on it last night and it was great! |

Plamarine, that is nice that SleepEZ is now sending comfortable covers so thank you for sharing. The cover is one of the most important parts of the bed and I am glad I was able to fit my 1" topper under the zippered cover. There is room for another 1" with a tight fit but I like the way the fit is right now on my FloBed but I wish that FloBeds and SleepEZ would both offer toppers that have varying thicknesses since we are all so different in our needs. I also love my Brylane Topper since it was a little bit big (not too small like the cheaply made overstock 1" topper that fell apart on me) and I was able to cut it down to fit perfectly. It also has no seams and is all natural Talalay Latex. One of the replacement toppers FloBeds sent me smelled so bad that it was embarrassing since I had guests that weekend. The Brylane topper had just about no smell but I aired it out anyway over my banister before using it and it is the part of my bed that really adds to my comfort since I ended up going with all layers from 35 ILD (wish was 37 ILD at least but averaged too low and I kept this one and exhchanged a core poorly made that was firmer before I realized that each ILD made a difference to me on the feel) to 46 (forgot if it was 46 or 47.... have to look up prior posts) for both sides of my bed with that little bit of soft cushion on top. This is what is most comfortable for me with my heavenly latex pillow from Overstock. I had to buy 6 overstock pillows to get 2 that were perfect for me. The other 4 are good for me but just a tiny bit too thick to be as comforable as the 2 I am using. The others I use for guests and for shams if I ever want to dress my bed up.

| You bought the organic mattress, the one made with 100% natural instead of blended Talalay? Is the mattress cover woven or knit? I put my daughter's new bedframe together today, and I sold her old bed and mattress at a garage sale this morning, so I need to get off my butt and order her a mattress. I am thinking I'll order the Sleepez, then I'll have one from both Sleepez and Flobeds and can do a direct comparison. |
