I got two samples today one of their 4lb and one of their 5lb...
the 4lb was blue and is basically 2"x2"x2" around 1/8" higher on some sides.. the 5lb was light pink and is basically 3"x2"x2
the 4lb weighed 12grams and the 5lb weighted 15.5 grams... that seems rather close to me do you think the weights are correct? When I squeeze them at the same time, the blue one stays squeezed longer while the pink one bounces back quicker. What does that tell you? How do I know how firm either one will be in a full pad? Does it depend on the lower parts too? |

There are lots of posts here back over the months and years about memory foam. Search for others' thoughts. I have tried it in 1 inch, 2 inch, from 3lb density to 5.3lb density in varying numbers of layers. 5 lb density is supposed to be 5 lb of material per cubic foot, per 1,728 cubic inches, so do the math. A 1 inch queen will be 1 inch x 60 x 80 or 480 cu in/1728 and should weight that corresponding # pounds. Estimating from a small sample will have a fair amount of error, but tell you something. Sandman and I have weighed 1 inch x queen mem foam in 5 lb and 5.3 lb samples from overstock.com and foamorder.com. I found them to be a little short at O and righ on from foamorder. The one that bounces back quickest is described as "quick recovery" foam and will feel more like a contemporary mattress but with some "give". This one will be supplying some more "support" or "pushback".
My experience with all of the foams is that you won't know what you like until you try them. I have only bought 1 inch foams for this reason, so I can try by folding for half the price. search shovel99 for logts of comments on memory and latex. Overstock.com for 4 lb mem cool and foamorder.com for 5.3 lb density.

| Something seems wrong since your denser piece is almost 50% larger and denser, yet it weighs only 29% more. Are you sure all of your measurements are right? Someone in a recent post bought the 5lb foam, and I think it measured at the right density. I think it will be hard to tell from a sample which you will like more, but in general I would go with the more dense one. |

I will have to reweigh somehow but I did use one of those professional gram scales.. |
