I know it's been a debate for a while & everyone has a different opinion. I am hoping to get some clarity on the subject though. I'm a side sleeper So I need something that won't kill my shoulder, but will still protect my back. Maybe my weight makes it easy & my back AND shoulder would be fine on something like the Tempur Cloud Supreme/Luxe? Or does my weight not play as big of a role as one may think & I really need something like the Rhapsody?
I've tried em all & have it narrowed down so I'm not asking you to pick a mattress. This post is strictly to make sure I pick the right one for my body, sleeping style & ailments. |
In my opinion, don't pick one where you sink in quite a bit. I have an icomfort Revolution, I'm a side sleeper with an old injury to shoulder. It hurts a bit just to sleep on that shoulder, but I really on that side also. I focused a lot on pressure relieving of the Revolution although I knew it was very plush and sank in more than my other mattresses. Things backfired because that extra sinking in is starting to cause my back to tighten up. My lower back never hurts normally. It's not real bad, but it shouldn't hurt at all. I thought the next firmness, Genius was a little too firm, but it would have been a better way to go. So, just don't get a mattress where you sink in a lot, and the pillow feels tall. That leads to back discomfort. I haven't seen memory foam firm up like regular foam does when it indents and packs down, so like said IMO, go a little firmer than you think on memory foam. |
I could always start w/the Cloud Supreme & exchange for Rhapsody if need be... |
I have the allura which I assumed would be soft enough for me. It was the softest tempurpedic at that time. Now I am considering the luxe. I wish my allura was softer. I've had it for a couple of years. It softned up a bit from when it was new. The complaints of these things getting too soft too quickly isn't the case at all. I wish that was my complaint (maybe I'll walk on it more). It is very supportive and I have no back pain. This mattress will last a lifetime. My latex mattress softned up way more than this thing. |
