Ok...so my story was.... brand new rock hard bed.....hips and back sore.. 5' l0" 150 pounds...mostly a side sleeper.......couldnt sleep through the night.  Latex topper seems to be the answer....I researched and researched and finally decided on  Talalay 19ILD 3 inch topper.

I got it two days ago and have slept on it for two nights.  My hips are marvelous!!  My back is much worse..no longer sore...but I can hardly move first thing in the am....my back is very "weak"    I cant bend over...no flexibility.  I take an Aleve and three hours later and I pretty normal.
My back is not getting the support it needs....thats what I think.

So my questions are:

Apparently the 19 ILD is too soft?

Will I adjust...should I try it for a week and then see?.....at risk to my back :)

or

Send it back and try........ what ILD????   Do I just hop to a 24 ILD?

Have any of you had these experiences?  What did you do.....

Any feedback  or information is truly appreciated......

THANKS!!

Sandman,  do you mean  get a one inch firmer ILD and a one inch softer ILD?

I meant 1" of the 19 might be okay, but the second inch I would probably get firmer (like 24-28).   It depends on how soft you like it and what you back can tolerate.  Right now I am using 1" of 4lb memory foam (probably slightly too soft, but okay for me) over 1" of 24 over 2" of 32, directly over the springs.   I am not sure what else you have in your mattress over the springs, so it might not be a direct comparison.   At some point I might order 1" of 19 to try instead of the memory foam to get slightly more support.

Sandman,

You did some testing of the LI Celsion topper (folded 1" in half to make it 2" thick). What did you think of the material (overall and pricewise)

My main objective for the Celsion was to try to sleep a bit cooler.  It did not seem cooler to me after a couple of hours of laying on it.  I went so far as to measure temperatures of the Celsion, the flobed convoluted blended latex layer, and overstock mem-cool memory foam.   I did not find (or feel) any signficant difference between them.   So, I could not really justify the higher price, but it was not that much higher (15%?).

I found the 15 a bit too soft, so if I were to buy today I would probably get the 21.
