I tried this mattress at the store and I have to say it is wonderfully comfortable and supportive in the right places. At least for me. The single layer of honeycomb gel is for people of average weight. Heavier folks can purchase two layers of the gel. I want to buy one, but I have no idea how it holds up. The honeycomb gel is supposed to be a long lasting material. But the inner parts of the bed are optional latex or regular foam. Has anyone bought this mattress? And if so, how has it held up? Does it sag after a while? Thank you, SH This message was modified Jan 7, 2010 by sleepyhead

I have had my cushion for over 3 years and weigh 300 lbs. I like gel tech but "bottomed" out on their bed. If I did buy, I'd go with springs, gel and latex, made from mineral oil (the gel), BTW. |
So we have now had a couple more NexGel beds brought in through our store. More and more people seeming to enjoy the feeling. The beds really are totally different but if I had to compare them to anything it would be a Tempur-Pedic in terms of the idea that people either seem to love it or hate it. One thing I do like, because obviously comfort is subjective...is that unlike a Tempur-Pedic there is generally less chemical content in these beds. It will vary from model to model but really they don't have an offensive odour to them. We have now tried the LatexGel and Memogel Sweet Mornings mattress (they have a pocket coil core), and people seem to like it a lot more (and the pricing) better than the DoubleGel that we tried originally. I might bring in a more basic one but I have my concerns about how well a simple polyurethane core is going to stand up compared to using springs or a latex core. |
I've had the Nexgel Latexgel mattress for only a few days and am pleased with its comfort and support. My main concern is whether it will develop indentations with use -- only time will tell. One thing to watch out for: the mattress was shipped to the store tightly compressed and rolled up to fit in a relatively small box. It had been in stock at the store for about 3 weeks when I bought it, and when I got it out of the box it didn't expand to its proper size and shape. After 24 hours out of the box, about a foot at each end of the mattress remained compressed by a couple of inches and the matttress was 2 to 3 inches shorter than the foundation. A prominent sticker on the box read "Open Immediately", which apparently was directed at whomever received it from the factory, in this case the store, which must have assumed that the directive was meant for the final buyer. Anyway, it appears these mattresses can be permanently damaged by such prolonged severe compression, and it's somewhat surprising to me that the factory would risk shipping them that way to save a few dollars on transportation. The store readily exchanged the mattress for the only other one they had in stock, which happened to be the one they had on display. I would suggest that if you buy one of these, don't accept delivery until it's out of the box and you can be sure it's okay. This message was modified Aug 28, 2010 by Jerry

At this risk of sounding dumb....I didn't even know I could order the beds compressed. Unless this was a practice before Natura bought out NexGel. I know on my order sheet that I can order collapsible bases (which are junk btw), but I don't see anything about the mattresses being shipped this way...it would actually save a LOT on freight...but yeah I would be hesitant to buy any mattress shipped this way, latex, gel, memory foam or otherwise. There is never any guarantee that the product wont sit around like this for months on end before being delivered to its final destination. |
I bought mine Nov. 2009, I rotated it every week as was perscribed the first 3 months, then I started rotating it every month, but now every month is not enough! I Noticed right away that when we where together there was not much support, (weight together = 360 lbs.) as the months have worn on, I have noticed even if we are both on our sides, I still feel it is "down in the middle" Most of the time my husband does sleep in the middle ;). Last week he mentioned 'it is like sleeping up hill on his side" I was told it had a 20 year warentee, but now I find it Nexgel, is no longer available I am dis-satisfied VERRY!!! It is much to expensive to heave to rotate the matris every week! I am sorry I bought it. |
We have had a nexgel bed for a month and we are sending it back. Worst decision we have made for such a large purchase. On top of the honey comb gel there is 2 inches is batting. We would wake up sweating during the night. We would also toss and turn all night waking up to a sore back. My wife only weighs 130 and I weigh 180 and felt like the gel bed was too firm. We were gone 2 weeks on vacation and my mother slept on it and said it was the worst mattress she had ever slept on. If you do buy one make sure you get the nexgel mattress from a dealer that offers a 30 day money back guarantee, not just a mattress exchange. |
NexGel is not the same as intelli-gel. NexGel and Orthogel are a foamed version of the original intelli-gel. The inventor, Edizone LLC developed the foamed version of the gel after losing a lawsuit where they tried to put the original licensee for intelli-gel (advanced comfort technologies, Inc. which commercialized the gel in the intelliBED line of mattresses) out of business . They also marketed the My Comfort line of mattresses using the foamed gel. 3rd party testing shows that intelli-gel lasts 2-3 times longer than any of the foams including memory foam, latex and the foamed gels. There is a lot of confusion about people thinking they bought the original intelli-gel mattresses from intelliBED but they bought the foamed gel mattresses instead. The people at intelliBED work hard to help the people who were fooled into buying a foamed gel mattress thinking it was an intelli-gel mattress. Visit intelliBED.com for more facts about the testing that has gone into the different kinds of gel. |
I bought a NEXGEL king size mattress in 2010, biggest mistake I have ever made. Save your money if you are considering this mattress. Sure, it's comfortable in the store, but wait until you have had it a few months. I rotated mine just like I was suppose to and it still sags where you lay. Nothing like waking up in the morning and finding yourself in a hammock. It has to be rotated at least every two or three days. My wife and me together only weigh probably around three hundred pounds. I can imagine what it must be like for larger people. This mattress is the biggest scam. It should be illegal to sell such junk. I suppose it's my own fault for not checking it out more. When you pay a small fortune for a product you expect it to be at least half as good as it claims. It must be filled with sand as heavy as it is. This beast weighs a ton. For as much as it cost it should be filled with gold. Seems like there should be some kind of class action suit filed on this company. If anyone is thinking about buying a NEXGEL mattress, DON'T. I can't stress this enough, DON'T, DON'T. I can only assume they must import these worthless pieces of crapola from China and claim to manufacture them. I can't even imagine anyone intentionally manufacturing this torture device. Worthless, useless, crapola. The best thing that could happen is this company is to go belly up. I'm surprised it is still in operation. |
The reason for buying a good gel mattress is that ,it is really confortable and longlasting and the main objective to buy is that it bever let your back in pain as it lets an air crossing. I should say just give it a try, u'll never think to leave it! This message was modified Jun 9, 2014 by a moderator

We bought one in 2011. It was very comfortable in the store, however we learned after that he base they used in store was not the same base that came with it. That may have made a bit of a difference as our original base disintegrated within the first 5 months. This is a horrible mattress, it sags a lot. Within a few hours of being in it it feels like you are bottoming out on the platform. Pressure points especially hips. We also find it holds the heat which it was not supposed to do. We were not told about rotating at all never mind every few days. Having used it for 4 years though that now makes sense. Huge waste of money. |
