HELP! Anyone heard of or bought a BioLogic memory foam mattress?
They have the same stats as Tempur-Pedic - ie: 5.3lb density, etc... but cost less. They are from China and I have heard some sketchy things about China. If you have heard anything about BioLogic specifically or ever bought a BioLogic memory foam mattress, please respond with some information! Leslie |
Re: HELP! Anyone heard of or bought a BioLogic memory foam mattress?
Read some reviews on Isoform - seems the customer service/return policy is a nightmare and the cost to ship it back is very high. I am interested in the BioLogic because they sell it in a local store and we can actually lay on the mattress to see what it is like before we buy it - they do not sell Isoform in any local stores. Let me know if you have any information on BioLogic! I hope someone out there has purchased a BioLogic mattress or knows about the company :) |

From that site: "Q: Why are American made Viscoelastic foams better that those imported from China? A: Our Environment: In China, manufacturers of viscoelastic foam are not required to follow the same strict environmental laws that apply to United States manufacturers. Your Health: Many hazardous chemicals that have been banned from use in the United States, are still widely used in China. For example, fire retardants containing PBDEs (polybrominated diphenyl ethers) are widely used in China, but have been phased out in the United States as they are potentially hazardous to your health." I sometimes find things I want to buy, and then I see they are from China. I refuse to buy them because: 1) Chinese products often have dangerous chemicals in them 2) China's government is about as close to evil as you can get (not that our's isn't doing plenty of wrong in the world, too). But what China is doing and has done to Tibet and Burma is unforgivable in my view. I support a boycott of all things Chinese until they a) start manufacturing with some sense of making things without harmful chemicals; and b) stop beating up on little countries like Tibet. As I said, I do realize our own country - the USA - also does a fair amount of these bad things, as well, but - in general - we do at least have standards to protect consumers from obviously harmful products. |
Re: HELP! Anyone heard of or bought a BioLogic memory foam mattress?
I agree about not buying from China. Unfortunately, all electrical parts now (99.9%) made in China, even flashlights. Most everything we no longer have a choice but to buy made in China. I wish it was not this way. I always bought US made when it was available. Harder and harder to find anymore. If I can get mattresses or mattress toppers made in USA I definitely buy it. If only we still had more choices. Big pet peeve of mine for many years. I have seen it change from made in USA products that were always available, now it is so hard to find made in USA. Off soap box now. |
Re: HELP! Anyone heard of or bought a BioLogic memory foam mattress?
Excellent point. It's a real moral compromise, buying anything from China, considering how oppressive they are against their own people and other little countries. Unfortunately I haven't found anything else that's financially comparable. I found a King size mattress, frame and boxspring for $899... and having the same stats as a Tempur-Pedic (ie: 5.3 lb density) is pretty important to us... AH!! This is hard! |

Does anyone have any links to affordable (under $1,000) mattresses with at least 4 to 5.3 pound density and made in America or somewhere that isn't China? |
