HR foam vs Latex
Well, i *think* i've decided to buy an Otis Bed mattress (one that is primarily for beds, not futons) that consists primarily of HR foam (2-2.5lbs).For the price ($750 for a king), it gets excellent reviews and is supposed to hold up over at least 10 years. Also, i *think* it has very little motion transfer. Though i can't find a bed with NO motion transfer, the foam seems to have less than the latex mattresses i tried (they're more boingy, i think). My boyfriend is 170 lbs on a fat day, and i'm 125 lbs. Does HR foam typically have little motion transfer? And should i be worried about it breaking down (sweat, moisture???), or should i trust this maker's reputation? Maybe a topper would help to 'save' the mattress for longer use? And--is HR foam typically very supportive? The latex mattresses didn't feel supportive enough on my lower back region... Thanks! |
Re: HR foam vs Latex
Thanks for your response! Am i better off getting a harder-than-comfortable foam mattress, and using soft toppers on it? Or getting a medium-firm (comfortable) mattress, if these mattresses indeed last 10 years...? |
