The icomfort request for advise topic is getting so long I thought I would post my own review as I am making my journey through the icomfort line.  Yes I said journey... I did not intend for this to happen but at minimum I will have had two of these mattress's in our house and between you and me I am really hoping for three :)  So you are asking why? or what is wrong with this guy...

Like most of you we spent a couple of weeks trying different mattress. Last week we decided that the icomfort was going to be the line we where going to go with.  Now it was time to decide what model was right for us.  Our problem is that I like a firmer bed and my wife like a very plush bed.  One would think our best option would be buy twins with a king base so we could both be comfortable.  Well my wife is a cuttuler and having two different beds side by side like that just would not work.  They had one set up like that at the store and we tried but it was a no go. For some reason we just did not like the insight so we did not spend much time with it.  We could not put our finger on it as why but neither one of us really like the feel.  The store that we bought at the time did not have the prodigy so it was between the genius and the revolution. We spent a lot of time of both of the beds trying to figure it out.  Our problem was there was such a drastic difference between the two.  Also both models had been on the floor for a couple of months.  This is important and I will touch base on it later.  We decided to go with the Genius and the adjustable base...at first...

First the adjustable base in my opion is a must have.  It totally changes your experience for sleeping, watching tv, or working on the computer in bed.  The serta adjustable base has 4 preset positions Flat, Zero G, Lounge, and TV/PC.  All are very interesting and comfortable and really work well for my body for what the are designed to do (not really sure what Zero G is for but it is nice).  You can also adjust the head and feet independently as well. When I think of massage in beds it takes me back to cheap motels where you could put a quarter in the bed and go for a ride :).  When I saw the adjustable base had this feature I was like, great how much extra did I have to pay for this.  You know what... I will eat my words.  I really like this feature.  It has 3 setting not really sure how to describe what it is like but the fist is a light pulse, the second is a little more intense and the third is not a pulse at all but just full blown vibration.  For me this third position is just a little much.  You can vibrate your upper body or lower body or combine both.  It also has a timer that will shut off in 10, 20, or 30 min.  The base has operated flawlessly for a week now.  It is quiet and even with the massage features on it does not rattle the bed.  Except for the 3rd setting.  It is just loud enough and intense enough I don't think you will be falling asleep.  My only grip with the base is that the remote and instructions.  They both stink and more people than not will be confused with the remote.  The movement portions is pretty self explanatory.  The timer and massage feature need to be reworked (on the remote)

The Genius mattress...  So you are most likely wondering why I said above I hope to have all three in my house.  Well we made our decision and bought the genius.  As I said above the floor model had been in a busy store for a couple of months.  As it was pretty firm it was very supportive. It felt great to me, but my wife was still a little unsure.  I also said above it is important to know how long the display has been out.  No matter what any sales person tells you there is a break-in period and from what I have seen in a week its a drastic change.  We had our Genius delivered and we where supper excited to try it out.  My wife was the first to lay on it and the first thing out of her mouth was ohh nooo this is really hard.  I though it was in her head so I gave her one of those husbandly "right" looks and went to lay on it.  Wow talk about buyers remorse.  We just spent several thousand dollars so that we could sleep on plywood.  I called my salesperson and told her what our feeling was.  She reassured me that it would get softer and just try it out.  Also because I bought the mattress protecter I will be able to change out the mattress three time in a year if I am not happy.  A little side note here.  I don't normally buy warranties or protectors on anything, but for $75.00 for a queen mattress and it gives me the ability to change out 3 time in a year...  That's another no brainer!  Anyways she told me to try it out for a week and let her know.    I will add the genius did soften up a lot.  It took about 3 day's to notice it but by the 4th day if felt a lot like the display in the store and after a week I feel it really got broke in.  So do give it some time before you really panic. The week has came and gone and we have made our decision..... We are moving up in the line for plushness. The store at first did not have the prodigy so we thought our only option was the revolution.  It  just so happened that 2 days ago they received there shipment of prodigys so we where really able to compare.  We went back and forth and this time spent about 30 min. on both the prodigy and the revolution.  Like I had said early I like a little support and my wife just likes to sleep on a cloud. I really wanted to get the prodigy but my wife really!! like the revolution.  Like always the wife won out and anways we do have one more change out that we can do if we don't like the revolution.

The Revolution mattress... It has only been one night on the revolution and just like I said on the genius it takes at least a week to break in the mattress.  I can already tell you though we are much happier with the revolution than the genius. As long as it keeps decent support I will be happy and off course my wife loves its because it is truly like laying on a cloud.  No matter what... we will keep this one for at least 30 day's.  If the support starts to go away we will move up to the prodigy.   As I said I really like the Prodigy.  Strange as it is because of where it falls in there line up and pricing. The prodigy has a firmness that is in the middle of the revolution and the genius.  As far as foam it is the same as the revolution but it has a 1" latex foam support between two larger foam pieces.  I really like the support that it provided and if the revolution looses any of its support we will move up to the prodigy.

Do the mattress's sleep any hotter?  I amy a extremely hot sleeper.  I am sure this is more info than you need but I sleep nude and with one sheet and we keep our house at 70 degrees.  The reason we went with the icomfort was because of this.  I had sleep on a Tempur-Pedic once and I was hot all night long.  I can say the first night on the genius I was a little warm but as the week went on I really think it was my body adjusting to mattress.  They say one reason you heat up is because you have more blood circulation because your body is sleeping in the right position.  I did not believe that at first but now I do.  It may be my imagination but I do think the revolutions sleep just a tad hotter but you do sink it to it a little more.  It's not enough to effect me at all but we will see what the next few night do.

I know this was a extremely long post.  When I was searching out mattress though and decided on the icomfort there was just not a lot of info out there.  So I wanted to put down my experiences for anyone else going through the same thing.  I do Highly recommend the icomfort.  Please spend time laying on all of them to find the right one for you.  I know it feels strange laying there at the store for so long, but if you don't lay on the mattress for at least 15-20 min. you will not get a good representation of how your body is going to handle the mattress.  Even then you truly wont know until it get it home and spend several nights on it.  Make sure you buy from a store with a good return policy.  Mine lets you switch out 3 times in one year if you buy the protector.  Lastly give the mattress some time in your house!  It does break-in and will feel more like the mattress you laid on in the store.

I will up date you more on the revolution in a couple of weeks and let you know how its going or if I moved up to the prodigy.

Yes that thread just about scared me away from the icomfort.  The thing is we really liked the line and we knew the tempurpedics sleep to hot for us.  We are lucky enough to have had about 5 stores around us that all carried the icomfort line. So we shopped more stores than I normally would so that I could check the firm or plushness of each because of the claims of inconsistency.  I truly believe there is no inconsistency in the material its self, but in the break in period of the beds.

We are really enjoying the Revolution. It is still breaking and I will give it a month until I make sure this is the one I will keep, but as long as it keeps the support for my back we are happy campers.

I talked to the Serta rep and also called Serta to find out more about the warranty.  First make sure the store your buying from has a good return policy. You should at least be able to switch out once with no problem if you don't like it.  I think Sertas return policy is great.  They are very upfront about using and purchasing a mattress protecter for the store you bought it from (buying from the store is just proof that you bought it at time of purchase).  If there is even one small stain they will not take the mattress back.  Sounds like a way to get out of the warrantee but they say if a mattress is stained they can not take it back into the factory.  I guess I can kind of see the point.

I just posted in the "really long thread" also ... we have a king iComfort Genius -- and the Motion Perfect Base -- being delivered tomorrow. It is good to have a "heads up" that there might be a break-in period, despite the claims to the contrary. These forums are invaulable for getting real user information!
