Randy,

I thought you were researching Tempurpedics and Flobeds?  Why haven't you gone and tried them yet?

When I tested the Tempurpedics, I reached the conclusion that the only tempurpedic beds worth getting would be the Rhapsody ($3300) and higher models.  Alexander, who is in the mattress industry, just confirmed this opinion in another recent thread on these forums.

I have a bad back, and I just ordered a Flobed with firm over xfirm over xfirm layers.  I haven't recieved it yet, but will report back.

You definitely do not need cheep Chinese foam from Costco. Good call on returning it.

What you need is a mattress that gives you good support not necessarily a hard feel.

Yes the cheapest are the hardest in feel because they have the shallowest comfort layers.

You don't want the Bellafina. It is a plush mattress with "springy" feel.

If you want a firm mattress with a conventional feel,ie "springy" then get the Bellasona.

It has the Tempur HD foam as its top layer. It is has 7 lbs density and offers more support. It also has the Tempur-Flex system which are something like "foam springs."

The Rhapsody also has Tempur HD without the Tempur-Flex that give the bed a "springy" feel.
