Latex AND memory foam? Can someone explain logic and usage?
| I notice a lot of people here seem to use both latex and memory foam. Can someone explain the logic, as they seem two ways of achieving the same thing? Also, are they normally used in an particular order? |

Memory foam tends to have a low level of firmness, and therefore less support. The normal ILD might be something like 12-14. It often is lower density as well, which also can mean less support and longevity. Latex can have a wide range of firmness from 14-50ILD. It tends to be denser as well, so if is better at providing support. Memory foam molds to the body more and does not spring back quickly. Therefore, it can have a more soft/plush comfortable feel (to some). Personally, I like the feel of about 1" of memory foam on top, but it is hard to find good quality 1" pieces that provide enough support. Cetain types of memory foam also retain more heat than latex.
