Latex topper recommendations
My wife and I just purchased a king sized Luxury Firm mattress from Original Mattress factory. We picked it because it felt supportive, and we knew we could put something on top of it to get a little extra softness. We are both side sleepers, but she sometimes moves to her back (I only sleep on my side), I'm 5'11", 210lbs, and my wife is 5'6" 155lbs. While this mattress is great for support, we're looking for some softness on top of that. We actually loved the soft plush latex mattress at OMF, but it was a little spendy for us. I'd love something to give that heavenly soft feeling we both loved when trying out that latex mattress. After some searching around on this forum what I'm considering doing is ordering the 2" 20 ILD latex topper from foambymail. I'm just wondering if 2" going to be enough, or should we go with 3"? If 3" is better, is the 20 ILD going to be too soft at 3" that we'll start to lose support? I guess another option is to get the 2" topper now, and if we need more we can add another 1" later? Another option I thought of when searching here is getting the 1" 20 ILD topper, and then putting a 1" Comfort Dreams memory foam on top of that to give it a softer feel. We have a memory foam topper on our current mattress, so we're used to how it feels. Is stacking it like that OK, or will the toppers move around too much? Re: Latex topper recommendations
We did mattress surgery and bought latex foam from FBM. While I think the quality is fine, there are many folks here that say the 20 is more like a 28 ILD. I haven't personally tried any other latex so I can't compare, but I can attest to the fact that the 2" of 32 and the 1" of 20 (supposedly) is VERY firm on top of our Stearns and Foster coils. We just ordered a 2" 22 ILD natural latex topper from Arizona mattress. The price was good and I was told by someone at Arizona that their natural latex is from Latex International. Hopefully that will help us soften up our bed enough to get a better nights sleep. For the previous poster who said the memory foam was comfortable but too hot, I've heard lots of positive reviews about a wool mattress pad -- it is supposed to make the heat issue much better! |
