Layered Latex Mattresses - What ILD is working for you ??

Been reading quite a bit on this forum to make the best educated decision on a latex mattress core. I'm leaning towards Latex International  36 ILD Talalay core natural (or possibly blended).   I weigh 170 LB and wife is over 200.    Would be nice to find 3" pieces of 36 ILD LI for a decent price, if anyone can share.

Just wondering if others can chime in. What's in your layered latex mattress that works for you ?

ILD, thickness of layer, blended or natural, and weight range would be helpful information.

Thanks Sandman !

6" base is what I'm looking to build. Seems like it would be easier to work with 3" pieces than one full 6" piece.

6" of 36 ILD  with 2" 24 ILD topper to start.

If that don't work then add a layer of 2" 32 ILD under the topper.

Sounds like a good plan. Yes, 3" pieces are a bit easier to work with.  Not sure 8" will be enough, but you can always add a bit more later.    If you are ordering from foamsweetfoam, you would probably have to get xfirm.  One issue is that most places sell in a range, so their xf could be from 35-42.  You may want to call to see if you can pick the exact ILD and find out what the return policy is.  6" of 42 would be pretty firm.

Overview Of What We Sell

Latex, sometimes referred to as Pincore, represents the best foam available for a mattress. Latex is inherently anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, dust mite free, and has hundreds of tiny air channels. Because of this natural ventilation, it provides more breathability, keeping you warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

Our focus is selling high quality Latex mattresses. We sell only 100% Natural Latex. The real advantage is for customers who have a genuine health or environmental concern. We carry the Talalay 100% Natural Latex. Talalay refers to the manufacturing process used in making the Latex.

My LI latex is blended Talalay.

On one side of my bed I have three layers of 36 ILD.  Each layer is called 3", but it's really 2.75".

On the other side of the bed are two layers of 36 ILD and a layer of 32 ILD.

On top of all these layers is a convoluted 2" layer of 28 ILD (with an effective ILD of around 14 I'm told).

I'm around 250lb.

This configuration works for me.  I have a really bad back, and find that some days the firmer side works better and some days the softer side.  Both sides are pretty firm though.
