Would 3 solid inches of 19 ild talatech latex feel different to  3 layres of 1" 19 ild talatech latex on top of each other? My wife is a side sleeper  5' 0" 180lbs. our current set up is Sterns &Foster ZEN PURE(new) with 3' latex topper ( 22-25ild). This combo is not soft enough for her and Im thinking about returning the topper. SLAB recomends 3" of 19 ild talatech for her.our bed is a queen and if I buy 1' 19 ild I could fold in half and even tri fold  to try various thickness to see what works. Am I on the right tract or should I do something different.I am a stomach sleeper and find the toper we have now a little soft but just a little. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Brian

There is a debate on whether 3 1" pieces would feel much different from 1 3" piece.  Some have said that the 3 1" pieces might feel a bit softer.  I have never done a comparison like that, so not sure.

I would generally recommend going with 1 - 2" pieces on the top layer so you can fine tune it better.  So, I would probably recommend what you are suggesting - buy 1" and experiment with that a bit.

I have 3 1" pieces on the top of my mattress and it works fine for me (1" 19 ILD, 1" memory foam, 1" 24 ILD).
