Hi, Me and my wife are looking to purchase a new queen-sized latex matress and we are considering SleepEz or FloBeds as our main options. Although, we are located in Canada, so shipping + border taxes + low CAD$ right now are making this a serious purchase. I am 5"9, 125 pounds and prefer sleeping on front (sometimes on the side). My wife is 5"6 140 pounds and is a side sleeper/ back sleeper. After my research, I was thinking about a half-half configuration like this one (based on the fact that we have back problems and enjoy a firmer bed): Me: Medium Firm Firm Firm My wife: Firm Medium Firm Firm (with possibility to switch the top layers for side sleeping) What would be your recommandations for this configuration? Does this sound right? My problem with this configuration is that we won't really be able to switch the layers and try different combinations if not pleased. I don't know if it could be better in that matter. I am also wondering what would be best between Dunlop or Talalay blended (or possibly a mix of both)? Also, who would you recommend best between SleepEz or FloBeds (knowing we need to scope with all these additional cost stated above). I guess another option to consider is going for a Tempurpedic memory foam mattress, which we could find locally for a cheaper price. Although I don't know much about memory foam and I know people on this forum are in favor in latex. Is there any better options for residents of Canada? Additionnaly, I don't really know much about the boxspring or slat foundation so any recommandation would be welcome. We would really like this mattress to be suited to our needs and last a long time. I am looking forward to hear back from you guys, your help is greatly appreciated. Kevin |
Terriks, That Tush Cush sounds like a great idea. I will look into it. Thank you. Before the car accident, I didn't have any back problems but due to my slight scoliosis, I always just slept on very firm beds with no back pain. Now I seem to need firmness with a little give. Keven, My set up is for me and I am only 4'10.5" and 100 lbs so I wanted only a 1" soft topper so I would have some cushion but not a lot. I then have on my right side, two 37 ILD natural latex Extra Firm (called that by FloBeds but each company calls their ILD's different firmness names) over a 46 ILD latex Core (the 44 averaged to a 44 and this is a blended latex core that surprisingly I had no reaction to and I am chemically sensitive so Talalay Latex must really clean the latex good since I had reaction to a man-made latex pillow 2 years ago and could not sleep on it so now I sleep on natural Talalay Latex medium firmness pillows). I bought their pine slat box and love it now but for the first week that pine smell bothered me until I aired it out good. I guess I dislike any smells in my bedroom. On my left side, I have a 36 ILD over a 44 ILD over a 39 on the average ILD. I wish my left side was the same as my right side so I still think of calling FloBeds but it may be pushing it since I bought the bed in May 2007. The left side is very firm and comfortable but my right side is just slightly softer but firm at the same time and I like it a lot. I am a side sleeper so I needed the cushion. I tried sleeping without a topper but then I needed a softer latex core and then my back would hurt. I tried sleeping on a 44 ILD but my shoulders hurt. At least I have no allergies when I sleep and I do not toss and turn so much like my former too firm mattress that had no topper and was a Sealy Posteurpedic. I could not sleep with any of the pillow tops that hurt my bed and created allergies. |
