I realize that choosing a mattress is a matter of personal choice, like so many other things, but I am looking for just a little guidance. I want a comfortable bed. I need a firm bed. I can't afford to spend "porche" or "BMW" money on a bed. Temperpedic supposedly sleep hot, that's not an option for me, cause I sleep hot and since I am approaching the age range for menopause I don't really need to be any hotter. I have heard about Latex and understand it sleeps cooler. I have been to Sleepy's and laid on the Dr. Breus bed. I've read some of the comments here so I have to ask the question. What other latex beds are out there to look at? And while I'm at it more questions, Besides the standard names we hear does anyone in the Mid-Atlantic region have a bed that they think is total awesome? and is there a reason to choose latex over standard mattress or is it just the wave if the future? Also Sleep number is out because they have got to do something to get that piece of wood from between the sides, (I don't know how they do that commercial with a straight face, couples sleeping in the same bed, but I digress) anyway I do have to say this one thing, the air mattress thing is not a bad idea, I got a good night sleep one weekend on one of those aero-beds. Then again those adjustable beds sleep well too. the current bed I have I got from Mattress discounters. It is not a bad mattress, we are just moving from a queen to a king bed and thought it would be the best opportunity to get a better mattress.
A few recommendations would be nice, something firm but with some plushness (a girl likes to snuggle sometimes), My husband is already getting annoyed laying on mattresses. |
OK :) I'll take a look and see what I can find regarding any sources in my list ... but I can already tell you that you likely have some very good ones. Your budget is enough for an excellent mattress ... even in king size ... that would likely cost you much more (perhaps double) without the resources in this forum. And you probably already know this but many people miss it ... if you click the "all" link in a thread you will be able to read all the replies in a thread instead of just the first one and the last few. I suspect that many people miss most of the best information in threads because it sometimes looks like you have it all. Phoenix This message was modified Dec 5, 2010 by Phoenix

This is a list of some manufacturers in VA that are on my list and also some retail outlets that caught my attention for one reason or another. There are many more retail outlets of course that I don't have. I didn't check specifically how close they were to you but many manufacturers will ship to outlets near you and even good retail outlets will give you good ideas for where to go that may be closer if you call them. http://www.cozypure.com/index.php?main_page=contact_us&zenid=d5c977abfd3b2529c67a31b7995d8035 Manufacturer outlet. They make all natural mattresses that I really like and I believe have good value. http://www.mattresstraditions.com/about_us.htm Retailer. They carry a good range and lines of good manufacturers you may not see so often in chain stores. http://www.ebedstore.com/index.html Retailer. They also carry some options that you may not see as often. I did have a short conversation with them about something else some time ago and they seemed very helpful http://www.healthyback.com/brands/healthyback/29 Retailer. They carry Pure Latex Bliss which is a "commercial" mattress brand which I like more than most. The different thicknesses of comfort layers as well as the use of toppers gives the ability to customize these more than most. http://www.mainlymattresses.com/index.html Retailer. Another one that offers brands that may give you good value and that you won't often see in most places. http://www.perfectionmattress.com/ Manufacurer. They make latex mattresses similar in idea to some of the "make your own" available on the internet. http://www.huggingmattress.com/index.php Manufacturer. I included this because they are unique and you were talking about how much you like "snuggling" http://www.originalmattress.com/locations Regional Manufacturer. They manufacture a wide range of mattresses (including latex) at very good prices that I believe are superior to most. http://www.ashleyfurniturehomestore.com/storelocator/storelist.aspx?countrycode=USA&country=United%20States&statecode=VA&state=Virginia&city= Retailer. Mostly "S" brands but they also carry their own brand of mattresses that includes latex options. http://www.bassettfurniture.com/furniture-stores.asp Manufacturer. Have their own line of mattresses Some of these brands may be available closer to you if you do a quick search using their name and your location. Hope this helps a bit. Good luck Phoenix |
