"Mattress look" compared to a thin cotton or terry cloth zippered case?
We are seriously considering doing a DIY bed buying latex foam from foambymail.com. The 100% latex foam is cheaper but my drawback is not having a sturdy case to surround it all. My DH thinks he'll just roll out of bed off the side. Do you think this makes a difference, the sturdy cover vs. the cotton or terry cloth thin cover? I have read that having a thin cover is actually better though being closer to the latex....but still concerned about falling off... Words of wisdom anyone? Thanks!!

16" skirt will be fine for a 13" mattress. Those are the proportions I have on the cabin mattress. |

Oops, I just ordered the 24" non refundable. Hope it will be okay! Think I should try to change it? |

Just replied on your other post. It's a tough call since it is non-returnable. Too small and it will tighten your mattress, too generous and it might shift around. I really don't know what to advise on this one. The elastic is all around and very stretchy and the 16" is truly 16", not like some sheets that aren't as deep as they claim to be. The 16" does just fine on my 13" cabin mattress. Why don't you PM budgy and see what he advises since he sells a lot of these. |

Does your mattress height include the cotton blanket you now have on? If so, subtract that out because I assume you will be removing the blanket when you get the Dormeir. |

No worries Diane, I have some long elastic sheet suspenders/ garters that Hubby just told me he's "sure" will work if it's too loose. |

Diane, can you somehow post a picture of this Dormier....the skirt thing I'm not picturing or understanding in my head...does it go to the floor, I was thinking the skirt was just a stretchy material that went around just the mattress....is it supposed to cover the foundation/boxspring too? |
Re: "Mattress look" compared to a thin cotton or terry cloth zippered case?
No can do on the picture (I'm a luddite and my husband is out at the cabin). Sorry if I confused you with the word skirt. It is like any other fitted mattress protector, skirt meaning the part that goes over the sides of the mattress like a fitted sheet does. So just envision a fitted sheet styled as a protector. Is that any clearer? Did budgy get back to you - I haven't seen any posts from him for a few days so he may be away? Do you have any sheets that have a 16" pocket so you can see how that fits? The material of the "skirt" (sides) of the Dormeir really is stretchy and my gut feeling is that the 16" drop will be just fine for you but I would feel very badly if I steered you wrong. Was it the staff at snuggledown that steered you to the 24"? |
