I have the opportunity to get the Natura Celbrity queen size for $1899. This is a firm bed and I know by itself I couldn't sleep on it. I want to get the MF topper as I sleep on a MF topper now and like it. I am hoping that the topper will soften it up enough for me. Anyone have experience with this bed? I live in Canada and will not be ordering anything online from the US as it it too expensive. Please share. quickly please! |
My last attempt to fix this is the stretch mattress cover, if I can find one. Do you think these toppers will work on a regular spring mattress (which may be my next attempt). I am not to sure I would try an all latex bed after this. Refresh my memory on what bed you have now? I think you have the cuddlebed, but what is the base of the mattress? |
That is a good point and good observation. I was beginning to think with my situation (firm polyurethane foam) of 2" talalayl toppers and featherbed not stopping the pressure points pain that nothing will help soften this hard bed up. Now I am beginning to think it i s a true statement. You can't soften up a rock!
Leo, BeddyBye has the cuddle bed over the Ormalon topper, Her bed is latex and PU over springs. After returning the latex mattress I couldn't sleep on I went back to innersprings--a so-called "luxury" firm, which still has too much PU foam on it for my liking. Over that I have a 1" Overstock memory foam topper to give it a little cushiness. I've had this mattress for just 1 year and while there are no obvious sags the foam has softened up too much, and I actually had to insert some remnant carpeting under a flat feather pillow to firm things up a bit. It works but it's obviously not a perfect solution. I'm rapidly coming to the point at which I open the top and remove some PU foam--or all of it. I plan to replace it with the 1" Brylane latex topper and my favorite 2" 4lb memory foam topper. My back likes a firm bed, so this may be all the foam I need to find my comfort zone without compromising support. Actually you can soften up a rock. It just depends what you put on top of it and what combination of materials you use. I suspect your featherbed is causing the problem. The feathers are compressing under your weight and they just feel hard and uncomfortable. Before I added the carpeting I was just using the feather pillow and while it wasn't enough on its own to provide the rigidity I was after it was making my hips really sore. I had to slip some half inch HR foam over the pillow to relieve the pressure points. It just shows you how soft the PU foam on the mattress has gotten in less than a year if I can stick a sheet of carpeting, a feather pillow and an inch of HR foam underneath an MF topper and not be sleeping on a hill! It all compresses down when I lie on it. |
well, I am getting the Celebrity latex from Nautra and order the MF topper to go on top of it. At the store, they have a higher end Natura with a latex topper on it, non attached and we moved onto the Celebrity and it felt quite good. I really like MF, have been sleeping on a 2 inch topper for at least 3 yrs now. I don't find it hot, and actually add heat to my muscles to help them relax.{Fibromyalgia} This topper I have ordered has 10 oz of wool on top of the MF and a soft cotton terry cover over that. I'm thinking this is going to be a very good bed. I will probably have to wait about 2 wks for the topper to come in and they will deliver the bed and topper at the same time. |
Let us know how it works out for you. I'm really curious as to how the MF will feel to you over the firm latex since it didn't work for me at all--and I'm a fan of memory foam toppers. Do you know what the ILDs are on the latex? |
refresh my memory as to why the memory foam over the latex didn't work for you. I can't remember what you said. I don't know what the ILD's are for the latex, just that it is a firmer bed. I will be sleeping on latex, wool, memory foam and wool then my sheets. Everything I've read about the memory foam makes me think it will be better for my FM as a topper, and I love the one I have. ok, I heard back from the company about the ILD on the mattress. bottom six inches 35, and top 2 inches 26-32. I am adding a 5ib 2 inch mattress topper with 18 oz of wool on top of it. Does this sound like it will be to hard? |
Actually your mattress doesn't seem all that hard to me--but firmness is subjective. My ILDs were 32/38/44. My experience was that the MF didn't provide the same level of cushioning on the latex as it did on the extra firm innerspring mattress I originally bought it for. In fact it just didn't seem to provide any cushioning at all. What it did do however, was to hammock into the 3" top layer of latex and give me no support for my lower back at all. My topper is 4lb. The extra density of the 5lb topper may give you more support and more cushioning. And your mattress is softer than mine was to begin with. Let us know how you like it. |
Hi! It has been about a year since you got your bed with topper. Can you report on how you like it? I'm thinking of doing the same thing but with the solice. Any advice would be great. Thanks! |
