I just ordered a DIY  set from FBM and I would like any advice or opinions on my strategy.  I ordered a "Lux-R foam" 5" mattress for my platform bed.  Hoping it is firm.  Next a 3" 32ILD talalay topper.  Covers for both.  I am hoping this will be a good set up.  I am a 240lbs man looking to get out of innerspring frustration.  I do not have a bad back, but I want a superior sleep.  I am 50 yrs old and have cycled through many S brands as they just wear out over 2-3 years.

Thanks..Fran

Fran,

It may be a little bit too firm.  You will find that the 32 ILD latex may push back a little too much.  If so, try adding 1" of 14-19 ILD latex or maybe 1 inch of 4-5 lb memory foam.  I was surprised how nice 1 inch of memory foam finished off my all latex mattress.  It provides just enough pressure relief while maintaining the latex support.  I am the same weight as you.  Let us know how you do.

Thanks for your reply Mark!  Well I received the 5" foam and the 3" talalay in good shape.  I like that they put the covers on.  The foam mattress is really firm, the talalay seems a little on the soft side at 32 density.  I may try another layer but for now I want to see if the foam breaks in a little.  Actually thinking that a 3" foam layer of the softer foam from FBM under the latex topper might be perfect.
