SleepEZ is having a sale on this latex mattress. http://www.sleepez.com/latex-mattress-sale.htm

Queen is $1095 with shipping, which is where I'd like to keep my budget at.

The mattress comes with Two 3" Natural dunlop latex cores + 2" 100% natural talalay soft latex + cotton zipper cover. Choice of firmness: Soft, Medium, Firm, XFirm

I sleep in all positions, so I'm thinking would get a firm, medium for the Dunlop layers and then you don't have a choice for the 2" Talalay top layer. Just soft.

At $1095 this seems like a pretty good value. I'm wondering if anyone has bought this mattress and would like to share their experience. I would also value other opinions on how this mattress would be and whether it is a good value.

I've been looking at the exact same bed. It seems like you prefer a pretty firm bed, though, and I definitely need a soft top for shoulder/hip pain.

The thing that was making me nervous was another thread by someone who bought the higher-end SleepEZ mattress but said it was just too firm when on a soild or slat frame base. I have a solid platform base that the mattress will go directly on, and I'm concerned it will be too firm. What type of foundation do you have yours on??

If I don't get this bed, I will probably look into getting a decent, basic, firm pocketed-coil innerspring mattress (Simmons BR?) and put a good 3" Natural Talalay topper on it. About the same price, but can't get any feedback on pros/cons between the two.

This bed works for us WITHOUT the soft top and of course the core layers I settled on are FIRM. You could go for softer cores and the bed would be very different than what we settled on.

The 2" soft talalay that comes with the Special is really nice and makes the VERY firm latex mattress (on a slate frame) I already had a really great bed that our guests really like. So I think you could make a mattress on your firm foundation that would be forgiving. What I found for myself is that even when I tried a softer set up from SleepEZ I still could not sleep on my side because of shoulder pain and concluded with my doc that my body just is not well configured for side sleeping.

I would suggest, if you can, that you try enough beds locally so that you are pretty sure you want a latex mattress. Personally I really like the all latex set up, but I never tried your idea of a topper over an innerspring. For the price and service offered by SleepEZ I don't think you can go wrong, assuming you are clear on your basic direction - that you would like an all latex. You can try so many combinations in the 90 day trial period SleepEz give you that you are bound to find something that works for you and then if not you still can return it. I don't recall the details of what it costs if you send it all back but I think it's reasonable.

Hope this helps your decision. From my experience, I can't emphasize enough how wonderful it was to actually have the time to try out different combinations and to work with a seller that really is focused on making sure I was happy with the mattress.

I did buy this mattress and am VERY happy with the mattress and the excellent ++++ service from SleepEz.

Here are the highlights of what I learned and the process I went through.

  • Initial delivery of mattress was prompt
  • I got the medium and firm plus the soft talalay 2". Sean recommended I start with this combination based the info I gave him about myself and my wife.
  • We liked the combination at first but after a few weeks realized it wasn't working - not enough support. Took the top soft layer off and still not enough support.
  • Slept on the firm layer directly on our slat bed and that provided the best result so far. Then called Sean and he suggested getting an extra firm. Ordered this but was sent a firm by mistake. Firm on firm didn't work and so Sean corrected the mistake and sent the extra firm at no expense to me.
  • Final best combo was the FIRM on the EXTRA FIRM WITHOUT the soft layer. (Which was perfect on another very firm as in too firm) latex mattress I've had for years.
  • We needed almost the full 90 days to make the right decision!!!
  • The mattress cores were excellent quality - Dunlop. GREAT. They are not as pretty as the Tallalay (have some imperfections) but they are supposed to be the most natural latex product and we are happy we took the time and really have a great mattress that will last a very long time.
  • SleepEz was courteous throughout and willing to go the extra mile.
  • I think this special is a really good value. You do have to get a bit familiar with how to assemble the piece so they fit nicely inside the stretch cover, but no problem.

Thanks for your feedback.  so, you are sleeping on the two layers only  (X firm, then firm?)   I may also try this sale mattress!
