Hi all, I'm considering a few options for getting a new mattress. I've been researching latex mattresses, and they seem quite attractive, but I'm not sure I'm ready to invest that much money at this point. Right now I'm considering this very simple setup from Foam By Mail: 3" Slow Recovery Foam http://www.foambymail.com/SRFTwin1.html I'm considering 3" vs 4" top memory foam piece, and whether to go with the Medium 5" or a Firm 5" for the base, but my main question is: Should I get a protective mattress cover, and, if so, from where? I do tend to sleep hot at times (thus the attractiveness of latex), but if I had the right mattress (quilted? bamboo?) cover it should help with that, correct? I'm a back sleeper, 5'7", and 150lbs. Any thoughts, questions, suggestions? Thanks, BB |

Userbb, Have you ordered your foambymail mattress? I am looking at the same one, as it is slightly more customizable than the stock mattresses I see. I need a soft one for a side sleeper. Please review it if you can, John |
I mention it because they have a 120 night sleep trial, free shipping and free returns. I tried one once and liked it. I did return it because memory foam is not my cup of tea due to my bad back/shoulders. But I found it to be a good quality mattress and the M-Grade foam has a different (better?) feel than the HR foam I was using. Not sure how it compares to the foam at foambymail. Jimsocal, That looks like a good deal, thanks for posting it. I see there are a few considerations that I had not thought of such as the cell structure and so forth. John |
