We went to Leon, Canadian store, today and well had a pushy saleman, hate that... didn't get a bed but will be in may and god I so wanna get something good. I heard latex is that best, but is it just some latex or all? They didn't have that many latex beds there, only one fully latex and a few that had latex pads, which is better? Please some advice. I'm so super confused now after going there, and salesman lie... alot.
Thank you! Lisa |
No, Sealy is not a good brand name. Like all the major "S" brands, they sell a lot of mattresses that fall apart after a few months or a few years. You have to be extremely careful buying a latex mattress because sometimes it is not natural latex, or only part latex and mostly crappy polyurethane foam (which will fall apart and leave you with a sagging mattress) with some latex on top, etc. Also, sometimes salemen use shady fluff wording to make their latex sound better than it actually is. I am not knowledgeable in this area so stay tuned to this thread until it becomes filled with more technical advice from other more knowledgable members than myself. In the mean time, I advise you to not buy the Sealy or any other bed. You have done the right thing by making this thread. After the really knowledable members post in it, you will become much better equipped to make a great bed choice. |
Sealy springs....pretty good. Sealy upholstery....not so good. If latex is what you want....then staying away from the really big names is usually a good idea. Perhaps one of the truly best reasons most people want to buy latex is so they can stay away from standard polyurethane foams. In a coil mattress in Sealy's line today you will have anywhere between .5" and 2" of latex foam in the upholstery, usually with atleast 3" or more standard foams which will still break down. Even in their latex beds, they sometimes use this much standard polyurethane. There are good brands out there you can check out in person....most of them will be a little more money than the Sealy's you have been looking at. Where abouts are you located? |
I'm in Edmonton , Alberta. And I will be willing to get somethign else but kinda can't spend much more than 2,000$ |
In Canada its going to be very difficult to get a proper latex bed under $2,000 in a queen however there are places that carry them. You can get into a good Natura or Sueno latex mattress for around that price or a little bit higher. In any event the point there is that you are going to get a product that delivers the basic benefits of the material itself. |
If you're asking if they make good mattresses.... the answer, in a word, would be "No". (IMHO) Suggest you read some of the Highlighted threads at the top of this forum. |
