I've been trying to ask the question as to whether very thick inner springs with 2' of latex on top is to firm for side sleeping. It's been hard getting direct answers, so let me just answer my own question now through hard-learned experience.

The answer is, simply, YES.  Very thick, strong springs with 2" of latex is WAY too firm for side sleeping.

I'm switching my new mattress out and have a LOT of shoulder, back and neck pain.

I hope I've made this clear to anyone wondering about side sleeping.

Hey, Jim - one other suggestion:  Something I'm doing is going to the chiropractor for adjustments (not "cracking", just the minor thingy they use on backs these days to gently adjust).  remember our backs adjust when we get a new bed and it's not always a bad thing.  I know you already know that, but we on this site sometimes forget even the simplest "Sleepy's" advice!  LOL
