I am trying to decide if I should get the Sleep EZ 8.5" or 10" organic mattress. I am planning on trying soft, medium, firm on one side for my 165 lb girlfriend and soft, firm, Xfirm in the other side for me at 215 lbs. We are both primarily side sleepers. Shaun recommends getting blended talalay for the top soft layer and natural dunlap for the bottom two layers. Any input would be appreciated. |
Based on my experience, I would recommend the 10 inch mattress. As a side sleeper weighing over 200 lbs, you will benefit from the extra thickness and be less likely to "bottom out" on the mattress. I started with 8 inches of latex and had to move up to 11 inches. However, I was on blended talalay and not dunlop. Just my opinion. |
I would also go with the 10" Personally I don't care for the feel of Dunlop, I'd go with all Talalay, and I'm not sure how thick each of those layers is, but it sounds like you're building a pretty soft mattress. |
I think dunlop works better for heavier people 200+lbs. |
Hi Kimberly, Thanks for the reply. Do you have natural or blended talalay? |
I would also go with the 10" size. I prefer Talalay latex over Dunlap for the feel. I have a FloBed with 1" topper in soft, then XF, XF over SuperFirm since I like very firm beds with a tiny bit of cushion give.

I am over 200, unfortunately, well over 200 lbs, and I definitely prefer Talalay to Dunlop. Dunlop has a lifeless feel to it, like a dead fish :( My bed is blended Talalay, and it's F/XF/XF (32ILD/36/36). Occasionally I go over to the XF/XF/XF side (all 36 ILD) and there is the convoluted topper over the entire mattress. |
