OK, I know this has been discussed, but when I type in a search, over 100 pages come up, so please bear with me.

How is Sleep Like A Bear's reputation? I am looking to get a latex topper and SLAB has higher prices but will accept returns. RMM doesn't accept returns on toppers, but their prices are a little better.

Also, I am looking to soften my latex mattress just a little. Would a 1" topper suffice? This is all so confusing, and costly, so I want to make sure I'm getting the best products.

Sandman, do you have any experience with Foam By Mail? I see some people are happy with it and others not. It's the cheapest by far, I'm sure quality may be questionable since it is considerably cheaper than the competition, but for a 1" topper, maybe it would be OK?

No, I have not bought from them.  It is tempting, given the price.  I doubt the quality is as good as Latex International.  Some people have complained that the firmness ratings seem to be off.  I want to know what I am getting, so I have been leery of buying from them.   I guess the variance on 1" will be less consequential than if you were buying many inches.

I bought a 2" Celsion topper and zippered terry cover from SLAB and found ordering/delivery to be very good. They did seem to have a disconnect between their website and actual physical inventory quantity though. I emailed re:wanting to  purchase both items at the same time but on-line inventory showed "0" qty for the zipppered terry cover we wanted. I received an email within the hour stating both items were in inventory and could be ordered & shipped immediatly.

Guess I'd rather have the shown vs. actual inventory this way than order something and be told it is not in stock and is backordered.

I'd go with no more than 1.5" to start, then add another inch or so if necessary.

Jimsocal....I think that Q119's weight and the softness that they're trying to achieve would play into how thick the topper needs to be.

I my own case unless the topper was very very firm my 250+ lbs crushed anything in the 1" thick version so that it was as if I wasn't using anything.

A little more info..I weigh 130, DH is 230. He thinks the bed is perfect, I feel it's too firm for me.

I tried to lay on my old queen 1" memory foam topper to see if that helped, but I didn't like it. Still not comfortable and I had some back pain. The next night I folded it in half and slept on 2" of memory foam and I slept the best I have since getting the new mattress. DH tried it last night and said it was OK, so I might try a 2" soft twin XL from Foam By Mail for me and a 2" medium twin XL for DH. I don't want to get another MF topper because it is way too hot for me.

I actually might try to go to the Foam By Mail store - it's about an hour from me - and see what they have before I buy. Does anyone know where in Europe they are getting their latex?
