I think Stearns And Foster make decent mattresses, if over-priced. Their latex is synthetic, not natural and tends to dry out. You certainly would not want to use it in a sunny room. If I were going to buy an S&F (and I have considered it) I would buy one that is NOT a Pillow Top, one that has their springs, not solid synthetic latex, and one that is firm. I would then soften it up by adding some 20-24ILD latex on the top of it. I think S&F's top of the line springs are pretty decent. If you're going to go with 100% latex, go with Talalay or Dunlop, not S&F "smart latex" which is 100% synthetic. |
I belive the new line of stearns latex is now using a blended talay latex. It used to be 100% synthetic. All the latex samples I have ever received from different manufacturers (100% natural, 100% synthetic, blended, talaly, dunlop, talatech) have all dried out and crumbled over time. And a pretty short period of time at that. Hopefully it is different when wrapped in fabric and not exposed to the elements. I've looked at the new stearns latex. They are heavy, use a good amount of latex, and feel very solid. They are a good brand, even if overpriced. |
Cinthia Firm maybe? |
