In extreme frustration and anxiety caused by a combinations of low back pain, very poor interrupted sleep now this unpleasant experience, my thinking pattern has become muddled, so please bear with me.
Background: The SS latex mattress I bought, I slept 1 day on it on top of its soft side. It is somewhat too soft for me. Also with its foundation resting on my iron rails frame, it is still low and I am 6 feet tall. I am thinking of returning it all - mattress and crappy foundation. I still don't know what caused the sag in middle of mattress. My good guess is that it is the metal foundation that did it. The foundation is metal tubes interconnected. It has big gaps where there is no support. Where the mattress has sagged in middle there underneath it is the foundation area with 3.5 foot by 4.5 foot or so rectangle shaped metal tubes and in between that area there is no support!!that is where the latex mattress has sagged and the sag is showing in the foundation plastic cover which too has sagged there. _________________________________________________________________ What would be the best course of action? Like it has been suggested: 1. put the mattress on the floor to see if sagging goes away. But is it too heavy for me and I live alone. 2. return the mattress and foundation. and just get the new latex mattress resend by SS. and get a foundation from a local store and put that latex mattress on that foundation. But if that does not work out and i return it to costco would Costco take the return? That is the question. Last course of action - Please suggest me a tempurpedic. 3. Get a Tempurpedic mattress. But I don't know anything about Tempurpedic mattresses. How should I test which one suits me best? would the TP mattress feel different after a night of sleep than how they feel after 30 minutes laying on them in the mattress store? Would they become harder or softer? do the TP mattresses come with their own special foundations? which ones should I chose if they have choices? I prefer to sleep on soft surface but with excellent support. Not too soft like this soft part of Sleep science latex mattress. The firmest support they make has a 7lb memory foam layer over a 5.3lb. go to their website and look at the specs on each model, then try out that specific model in the store, the highest support they make. they will all soften some over the first year and after that too, but the 7 lb will soften down to feel like the 5 lb, which is still supportive. they make one model specifically for firm support, so check that out. failing that, you could pick up an omalon topper at brylane home on line, and that will firm up the feel on top. to get more support in the foundation layers, since you cannot change them, boards are a good idea. leave some air between them so that your latex does not mold
how about getting a new foundation from the local mattress firm? they have a sealy/serta latex mattress - blended one and it is heavy and is resting on a foundation. can i use that foundation for SS latex mattress from costco? would that work?

| Sounds like that should be okay. Just make sure the frame you put these foundations on has all the adequate centre support as well. |

Just make sure the frame you put these foundations on has all the adequate centre support as well. there are 2 rails that go between 2 legs on opposite vertical side of rails. and there is a rail(*center rail) that goes inbetween these 2 rails and this center rail has 2 legs supporting it.
kind of hard to explain.

A friend referred me to SleepEZ beds and the young man I talked to was Shawn. I don't recall the name of the bed I bought from them but I do know I'd give up my husband before I'd part with this bed! (Just kidding). I didn't know too much about buying a bed and someone suggested a latex bed and told me Shawn would help me get it right. I think I called him about 4 times and he was always so helpful and with the questions he asked and his knowledge he helped me make the right purchase. I've had my bed for several months and love it now as I did the first night I got it. Shawn is at 888-707-7533. I don't know a thing about Tempurpedic. Only thing I did learn is that it retains body heat too much and that knocked it out of the running for me. Good luck. |

Firstposter - We ended up buying a latex bed. But, we haven't received it yet. And, we already decided that if we didn't like it after sleeping on it for a while, our next try would be with the Tempurpedic Bellafina. We both really liked it, but decided on latex. The thing about the Bellafina that makes it different than many other TP models is the way it responds. It doesn't leave that human-shaped indentation when you move around. It flattens out quickly. And, it gives under your pressure points, while remaining firm. It seems they have a latex-like layer of foam in between their visco layers. If you like something very very firm, you might prefer the Rhapsody. That was our favorite of the TP's, until we tried the Bellafina. The Rhapsody uses their "HD" foam. Firmer than their standard stuff. |
